The Quizbowl Resource Center

Stanford will be hosting the Bay Area’s annual Weekend of Quiz Bowl this year on the weekend of August 4–5. The schedule will be as follows:
Saturday, August 4:
NASAT
OCTAVIAN and Imaginary Landscape (concurrently)
Sunday, August 5:
CO Trash
WORLDSTAR
The Human Use of Human Beings

All events for the weekend are open, so anyone who has not already been exposed to the questions may play any event with any team. We will have teams of four for each event, although we may adjust the format for the side events depending on interest. There is a team formation spreadsheet here if you wish to find a team.

To register, email BOTH Jennie and me at [email protected] and [email protected], respectively, with the following information:

• team name and roster
• events you will be playing
• number of buzzers and staffers
• email(s) where we should send logistics information
• phone number(s) by which we can reach you the day of the tournament

Please note that sending either of us a Facebook message, replying to this post and/or filling out the team formation spreadsheet will NOT register you for this tournament. Any staffers not affiliated with a team are welcome as always, and should email us as well. We will provide reasonable compensation.

fees:
NASAT and CO Trash:

• NASAT base fee: $100/team
• CO Trash base fee: $60/team
• buzzer discount: −$8/buzzer/day
• staffer discount: −$16/staffer/event

side events:

• $15/player for the first event
• $10/player for each subsequent event
• staffer discount: −$5/event staffed

Hello - after some uncertainly with the planning, I'll be in the area and attending. I'm a grizzled quizbowl dinosaur and not much good at anything anymore; my name's on the signup sheet and I'm willing to staff anything if necessary, except for CO Trash and Octavian.

Hey!

I'm still trying to figure out my transportation to the Bay Area, but here's my plea to get a ride back to Davis after events have concluded on Sunday, if anyone is headin' that way.

(also, if anyone's trying to form teams, I've thrown myself on all the lists as a free agent, since I have a place to crash for the weekend and I'm fairly confident that I can work out the other logistics)

We're looking for a 4th for Octavian.

Also I'm going to start matching people up for Human Use of Human Beings by Friday night, so form your own teams by then.

For the Human Use of Human Beings mirror, Naveed's team ended up ahead by 1 game and since we only had 1 remaining packet they were declared the winner. Thanks to everyone who played and moderated the tournament. I sent stats (minus the bottom bracket playoff rounds I'm still waiting on) to Jonchee for posting.

For CO Trash I think dominant trash player Jeff Hoppes led his team to an undefeated record. And I think Nikhil's team ended up X-1 over our team's X-2 to win WORLDSTAR.

Stats appear to be up for everything except WORLDSTAR and Imaginary Landscape.
