2019 NAQT Midwest SCT at Northwestern (02/09/2019)

Post by anthonywang1999 » Fri Jan 18, 2019 2:27 am

Northwestern University's Quizbowl team will be hosting the Midwest site of the 2019 NAQT SCT. The tournament will take place on February 9, 2019, on Northwestern's Evanston campus. We'd love to see you there! (Another special thanks to Greg Peterson, last year's tournament director, as this post uses what he wrote last year with the necessary logistical edits.)

Location and parking: The tourney will almost certainly take place in Kresge Hall, found at 1880 Campus Drive, Evanston, IL. The parking structure at 1 Arts Circle Drive is a matter of feet from Kresge and is your best bet--it does not require a permit on Saturdays. Depending on the size of field, location may be expanded to Fisk Hall.

Fee structure:
The fee structure is as follows:
$135 per team base fee
-$25/each for every team registered beyond the first.
-$10/each for buzzer systems with 8 or more functioning buzzers. If it doesn't have 8 working, it doesn't get you a discount.
-$30/each for competent staffers provided.
-$30 for any team from a school that did not send a team to SCT, ICT, or CCCT in 2017 or 2018.

All teams must pay on the day of the tournament. We accept cash or checks (made out to "Northwestern University"). If it's much more convenient for you to mail a check in advance, send us an email and we'll work something out. Invoices will be sent out closer to the date through NAQT's registration system. If you have already registered, please update registration with the correct number of buzzers and staff if it has not been done so already. Thanks!

Eligibility: This tournament will be held in two divisions, which will use different question sets. To determine which division your team is eligible to play in, see NAQT's Division II policy.

Registration:Registration is centralized for SCTs, so you'll want to follow this link to the NAQT registration page.

Current Field (19/20) (5 teams in D1, 14 teams in D2): See here. (Cap of 20 teams)

We hope to see you there!
