CamO 2019 available for mirrors

Post by krollo »

I'm happy to announce that the latest instalment of Cambridge Open is now available for mirrors. It went down well at the UK site a month ago, and we've made improvements to the set based on that since. It's a similar difficulty to previous iterations, around Penn Bowl, though this set is hopefully more consistent than it has been in the past. The 13 packets are 24/24, with 5/6-line powermarked tossups, distributed as:

(1.2/1.2) British Literature
(1/1) Other Anglosphere Literature (US-dominated)
(1/1) European Literature
(0.8/0.8) World/CL Literature
(1/1) British History
(1/1) European History
(1/1) Anglosphere (Including American) History
(1/1) World + Ancient History
(1/1) Biology
(1/1) Chemistry
(1/1) Physics
(0.5/0.5) Maths
(0.5/0.5) Other Science
(1/1) Painting
(1/1) Classical Music
(1/1) Other Fine Arts
(1/1) Mythology
(1/1) Religion
(1/1) Philosophy
(1/1) Social Science
(1/1) Modern World & Current Events
(1/1) Geography
(1/1) Trash
(1/1) Mixed / other academic
(1/1) Extra Lit / Hist / Science / OArts (distributed equally between the four)

Due to the very British nature of the set, we'd be happy to work with mirror sites to make this more suitable for American audiences – I understand most mirrors last year dropped the most egregiously British tossups from each packet, which I would suggest is a good plan of action. If people are interested, we could ideally try to organise some US help with Americanisation for a cut of the fees.

We'd suggest a fee of $30 per team. Feel free to message me on here / Discord if you're interested, or have any further questions about the set!

Will things like English-language Nigerian literature go under "Anglosphere" or "World"?

Also, will US literature not written in English be under Anglosphere?

It's (a little arbitrarily) geographical – Other Anglosphere includes all literature from USA/Canada/Australia/NZ, and everything else is under World.
