Gauging Interest in a Northeast ACF Fall mirror

Postby Pablo Picasso 2 » Fri Oct 13, 2017 11:40 am

As there is no ACF Fall mirror in the Northeast, Rutgers has been debating whether we should host - we have asked other schools in the NY/NJ area and it seems like the biggest issue all these schools have is that there is great difficulty in getting rooms through the administration. We have had no problem getting rooms in the past, but one thing stopping us from hosting is that we are a relatively small club, and do not have enough people to host. As the date for ACF Fall approaches, our hopes that there will be a Northeast mirror also fades day by day -- and some newer members seem to indicate that they aren't excited to have to travel to Maryland or Boston to attend ACF Fall.

We are gauging interest here to see that if there is enough interest for an ACF Fall mirror in the Northeast for it to materialize -- and the only way for it to happen is if we know that there be enough staff. If there are people from your school/team that's willing to help make a Northeast mirror happen, please tell us -- we would like for people in the tristate area to have a close mirror, but we won't be able to commit to hosting unless we are sure that we would have enough staff. We are willing to offer a larger discount for school teams bringing staffers (as opposed to the usual $10), and compensate for travel if you are helping out without being associated with a school/team.

We will need to confirm soon, if you want this mirror to happen.

Please do confirm this as soon as possible, so that teams that originally signed up for a Northeast site, but changed travel plans because it seemed there would not be one, may have adequate notice.

Unfortunately, we have not received enough staff commitments to be confident that we can host ACF Fall, so we will have to withdraw our offer to host a Northeast mirror. We thank those who did offer to come by and staff.
