Raleigh Charter would like to announce (tentatively) a new fall tournament. Questions will be sourced, and we know not yet whence. Details will be announced as questions are secured, but we'll Swiss-pair this one too, since our software is pretty darn versatile with formats.

Hopefully I haven't infringed on anyone's tournament/packet name. Our mascot is the phoenix, and I wanted to play with that.

Does the name of the tournament indicate its question category? I think some of my teammates would be very interested in a all humanities tournament.

Eric, if you're looking for questions to use for a tournament scheduled for the same day as Harvard's house-written high school tournament, you should consider talking to Andy (andy.watkins2 [at] gmail [dot] com) about running a mirror.

Thanks--good idea.

And to anyone--no, it's not an all-humanities tournament. How can any tournament be any good without any science?

I'm in love.

Seriously, though, consider mirroring us. We'll talk specifics later, obviously.

Tournament name now changed to the Bonfire of the Manatees. Too many people thought this was a humanities only show despite its Harvard Fall mirror-ness.

Cardinal Gibbons 1
Greensboro Day 1
John Holmes High School 1
Johnston County Middle College 1
Northeastern 1
Pasquotank County HS 1
Richmond County 1

Actually, Rocky Mount took us out in the quarterfinals - they were 4th.

We had a good time, and would recommend Raleigh Charter's tournaments to anyone.

Ditto. Kudos to Eric for running a smooth tournament. The electronic scoring has always fascinated me. Kudos to all the teams we played. There is a lot of talent in NC, especially Early College A and Greensboro Day. They gave us a run for our money and not to mention, they all look so young. Are they sophomores and/or juniors? If they are, they'll be tough to beat in years to come.

I know I can't talk about them but I'm looking forward to hearing the discussion about Harvard packets. Especially the difference between the 7a-11a and 7-11 sets.

Well, that's just weird. The program won't let you give more than 30 for a bonus, so that's some kind of coding burp. I'll let the author know. Thanks.

Edit: I found two more instances of ppb errors; we're looking into that.

It's a custom job that uses computers in each match room networked with a mother ship that tallies all results, pairs the next match, and posts the stats. The stats output looks just like SQBS, but apparently there's some kind of bonus tallying error for losing teams in some matches. One of our former players' parents wrote it.
