5th Annual HIT - Hoover, Alabama

Post by Joshua Rutsky »

Hoover High School is happy to open registration for it's fifth annual Hoover Invitational Tournament. This year's event will be held on October 3, 2009, and will offer two registration options:

Gold Cup - This bracket will compete using HSAPQ's Fall 4-Quarter question set, which is also being used at Danville, KY. Registration in this bracket is recommended for teams seeking to compete on the national level and teams looking to test themselves against high-end questions.

Silver Cup - This bracket will compete using house-written questions in the 4-quarter Alabama Scholastic Competition Association format familiar to many Southeastern teams.

We regret that this year we will only be able to accept a maximum of 12 Gold Cup teams and a maximum of 16 Silver Cup teams, so early registration is encouraged. Cost is $60 per team, with a $5 discount for a working buzzer set (up to two discounts per school.) We encourage teams from out-of-state to register, and will offer a $20.00 out-of-state discount for any team choosing to do so.

Please contact [email protected] to register or with questions.

Hey Josh if you want you can just shorten ours to KDS DAR (Kate Duncan Smith DAR is way too long at times)

If you are a capable reader and happen to be in the Birmingham AL area (or able to travel down/over with a team attending the Hoover Invitational), this is an open invitation for you to join us as a staffer. We have expanded our field by a couple rooms and I like to be certain we have enough good readers. Lunch is provided. :)

Thanks!

HI folks. Thanks to all who came out on Saturday for what was, at least at times, a relatively smooth tournament.

In the Silver Pool, LAMP A defeated Spain Park A for the title.
In the Gold Pool, Hume-Fogg defeated Indian Springs in a shootout to take the title outright without a final match.

All teams represented themselves well, and we were happy to have had you join us.

Edit: Complete stats for this tournament are ready, and can be found at http://results.scobo.net/HooverHighSchool.
