UCLA is bringing at least 2 teams, most likely more. We can probably bring buzzers and I will definitely bring my laptop.

UCSD will have at least one team, but it's very likely that we'll have 2-3. If you don't mind, can I staff (since I'm one of the editors of the tournament)?

Lack of money means we can only pick DAFT mirror or ACF fall. We'll come if DAFT mirror gets cancelled (knocks on wood).

Irvine is trying to get a team together; I don't know how successful we'll be, and I don't think I'll have the time between now and the last packet deadline to help them write a packet. Whether or not Irvine shows up, I'd be willing to come up and staff if you need extra staff.

I think we were only going to send one team, though there is a good chance that we'll send two if we have enough money left.

It would be nice to get an official count sometime in the next week, so please confirm the number of teams by emailing [email protected] as soon as you know for sure how many people are coming.

Thanks, and hope to see you there,

How about a prize for best costume?

Field:
Claremont x1
Caltech x1
UCLA x2
UCSD x2
ASU x6
UCI x1
Arcadia High x2
= 15 teams

Correct me?

Unless RAY LUO AND COMPANY FINISH THEIR PACKET UCLA will likely be 1 team (maybe 2 teams if we can find some novices that don't have to write a packet.

We think we have 15 teams.

Claremont x2
Caltech x1
UCLA x1
UCSD x2
ASU x6
UCI x1
Arcadia High x2
= 15 teams

How true is this?

Also, there WILL be a best costume prize, so don't forget that this is on Halloween!

Just making sure, since you still have ASU listed for 6 teams. We actually have only 4 teams and that's assuming nothing bad happens to any of our 16 adventurers in the next few days (knock on wood).

By the way, do any of you know where ACF Winter is going to be (or when that will be decided)? If any Los Angeles area schools can host this (and have ACF Regionals hosted in San Francisco instead), it would be really helpful for the ASU people, but please let me know either way as soon as possible.

Thanks for welcoming a new team to your circuit.

Actually, my best guess is that it is going to be the other way around, because I will be editing Regionals and will thus presumably have some pull in getting it somewhere I don't have to drive long distances to staff.

Does the "high school team" discount count once per high school, or once per team that the high school sends?

The high school discount is only once per school. Sorry, guys!

Thanks, Dwight for getting back to us. I'm sorry you guys couldn't come. If you want to come by yourself to read, you're more than welcome.

Email with details coming out tonight.

I've clarified this with Caltech. Both Arcadia teams are eligible for the High School discount.

There will be no UCLA A, because UCLA B does not want us to come, and there's no more room in the car for me.
So there'll only be one team of 4 and a moderator showing up from UCLA. Apologize for the lateness.

I had the score of our game against Caltech B as 325-90, and I'm 100% sure our bonus conversion for that game was not 0.

There are at least two (obvious) errors in our stats, sorry to inconvenience our generous hosts by pointing these out.

1. There is absolutely no way ASU D got 18 tossups against Arcadia B. Would you guys be able to look at the score sheets for that round again, maybe Brendan (ASU D) got some other number of tossups that was mis-read as "8"? We were too busy playing to keep stats, so I don't know what the right number is.

2. We didn't have anyone named "Fiel" on ASU B. I'm pretty sure that stat line belongs to Theo, and that his name was misspelled for one round and then mistaken for a separate player.

And one other question...

3. If I remember correctly, ASU D and Arcadia A were tied 220-220 after 20 tossups before Arcadia A won the tiebreaker tossup (#21). I didn't keep score but the staff told us 230-220 was the final score. Are you guys sure you didn't miss a bonus part for ASU D somewhere that round?

If there are numerical errors other than the above, I wouldn't be able to tell as I don't have my own stats, so I assume everything else is right. The names you guys misspelled, on the other hand, are rather humorous so I will leave those alone until my teammates get a few good laughs out of them.

Thanks again to the Caltech quizbowlers for welcoming a new team to the world of quizbowl, and to the ACF Fall editors for not giving us too many impossible questions.
