Hi, everyone:

Gladiator Open 2011 took place at St. Mary's Visitation School in Elm Grove, WI today, on the NAQT MS-01 question set. The tournament was won by Barrington Station A, with a 9-0 record. Second place went to St. Mary's Visitation Gold at 7-2, and third place was a three-way tie between King's Academy, Quest Academy, and Barrington Station B, all at 6-3.

After the rounds, the top 10 scorers crowded around a single buzzer set for a 24-tossup individual shootout. Duncan (Station A) won with 120 points, followed by Pranav (Station A) with 70 points, Ryan (King's) with 40 points, Omar (Station A) with 35 points, and Alana (SMV Gold) with 30 points.

Full stats are available here: http://www.mrfalk.com/gladiator_open_20 ... dings.html

Thanks to my moderators, scorekeepers, statisticians, team parents, and concessions staff for a great day. Thanks also to the players and coaches (more than half of whom crossed state lines and left before 7 AM to make it on time), without whom we'd have no tournament. I'm interested in your feedback; my goal is to run high-quality, fun tournaments.

Consider your goal to have been met! The tournament was very well-run and the teams enjoyed playing NAQT's MS-01.The Keith Country Day coach said, matter-of-factly, "I wish IESA matches were like these!" We're winning converts, people. One tournament at a time...

I hope you're able to expand the interest in your area so you'll have more local teams to play. You're a fine ambassador for the activity and we're honored to have been able to play in your tournament. We hope to see you at the MSNCT!
