Yes. We're really excited about this particular location. Not only will this be convenient for Ohio and Kentucky, but we're hoping that the proximity to West Virginia (right across the river from Parkersburg-literally 20 minutes) will allow us to work with a lot of Mountain State quizbowlers.

On a somewhat related note, I'll also mention that Marietta, OH, is less than 5.5 hours from the DC Metro area, making it by far the closest camp to DC since our Maryland camps of 2007-2008.

That was an excited "oh, really," for the record.

I think the location is a really good place for Ohio, if you ask me. No longer will Ohioans from the Cleveland area have to make the really long trip to southern Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois etc for ACE. Also, it might be worth mentioning that this could further develop the quiz bowl circuit in Southeastern Ohio (or Southern Ohio in general), because as it stands right now, it's not too strong, with only one team from "down by the river" (constituting any schools that are in counties that border the Ohio river) actually attending good quiz bowl events as far as I know (that school would be Belpre, which I believe is actually a young team, who attended 3 or 4 West Virginia events that used NAQT questions this past year).

Wow, I'm glad I happened to see this. How did you decide on Marietta, and who are you working with here? I had expressed the idea that Marietta might make a good camp site in the future to a couple of people, but I never had any more formal conversations. Nevertheless as an ACE alum, and current professor at Marietta College, I would be happy to help in any way that I can.

I'm also very glad to see a camp in Ohio. It should give more Michigan players the opportunity to go to ACE and given the state of Michigan quiz bowl (only a few relevant teams year in and year out) this could be a real shot in the arm.

Our sentiments exactly. We hope that our camps not only help coaches and players improve, but serve to increase the overall quality and depth of the quizbowl circuit. We are committed to outreach and are currently working with schools to help build and strengthen quizbowl programs through our coach mentoring program. We will be announcing additional outreach initiatives in the coming months.

I must say, I'm also very excited about the Marietta camp. No one on my team has really given serious consideration to attending the ACE camps in the past, due to the distance (we're a Michigan team). Personally, I've always been very interested in the possibility. The point is, I'm sure a ton of Michigan players will make a point of going to this now that it's so close by, and will continue to go in the future.
