This is a preliminary announcement for the annual Berry Scholars' Bowl competition to be held on our beautiful Mount Berry, GA, campus on January 14, 2012! This is an open HS tournament, and spots will be given on a first come basis. We will post additional information (Deadlines, Fee Structure, etc.) in the coming weeks. Hello all!

Below is the fee structure and a field update for the Berry Scholars' Bowl competition scheduled for 1/14/12!! We'll be sending out a registration form closer to the date, and the deadline for submission will be 1/9. If you need any other info or would like to register your team, please contact us @ berrycollegebowl@gmail.com.

This year we are very pleased to be a mirror of the Maggie Walker GSAC!


Base Entry Fee: $75 per team
Discounts:
• $5 for the second and third teams from the same school
• $5 for each fully functioning buzzer system (limit one per registered team)
• $10 for teams located more than 250 miles from the Berry College campus
* $ 5 for each volunteer (Limit 2 per school)

Minimum fee for 1 team (if all discounts met): $55.

Greetings all!!

The field is currently holding at 27 teams. We have decided, at this late date, to lower our field cap to 32 teams, so there are only 5 spots left! As an added bonus, this year we have formed a partnership with PACE. Those teams who finish in the top 20% of the field will receive a bid to compete at the PACE National Scholastics Championship @ Washington University in St. Louis June 9th and 10th!! This window of opportunity will only be open until 12:01AM EST on Wednesday, January 11th. Scheduling info will be sent out by tomorrow PM. We just wanted to give you a few basic details about our schedule on Saturday. Registration will begin @ 8:30 in the Science Building (Follow traffic circle, first building on right across from Krannert Center). The main meeting will begin at 9:00, and we'll dismiss to 1st Round rooms at 9:15. Lunch will be on your own. We hope to have everything done by 5PM barring any unforeseen delays. If you have not submitted registration forms (or if we forgot to send you one :-) ), please e-mail it to us in advance or have it ready to hand in when you register on Saturday. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Congratulations to Bainbridge High School for winning the 2012 Berry Scholars' Bowl!! Bainbridge won an extremely competitive final over Etowah A, 375-285. After dealing with a scheduling nightmare caused when 3 schools (5 teams) no showed, all of the teams engaged in a highly competitive and exciting event. The playoff teams were as follows (in order of seeding):

Certificates and scholarship letters will be sent out to the top 10 scorers in the next few weeks. Our thanks go out to the crew from Maggie Walker for allowing us to mirror the GSAC. The questions were very well received. We do ask that the teams involved do not discuss specific questions as there will be future tournaments where they will be played.
