Due to some unforeseen problems with room availability, this tournament will now be held on October 29th in J. Walter Wilson Hall. We've never held a tournament in J. Walter Wilson, but it's easy to find. It's at the corner of Brown and Waterman streets, across the street from the Faunce Arch entrance to the Main Green. Registration will take place in the building lobby from 8:30 am to 9 am. All other information remains unchanged.

RPI will probably have one team, with the slight chance of a second

So Brandeis is officially sending two teams, unfortunately no readers, and two buzzer sets.

Also, we'll be bringing the invoice you requested from ACF last year so that you can get your buzzers back. lolz

A question for Princeton: are these teams all distinct from the players who are going to George Mason on the 22nd?

EDIT: On further investigation, it turns out that yes, they are all distinct.

We may be interested in coming; depends on how many people are interested, but I would assume at most 2 teams, though it could in the end be 0.

I'd just like to point out that this will be Matthew Chan's first American quizbowl tournament. Please feel free to give him a hard time about his clothes, his accent, and his nationality.

I emailed Ian about this a couple of weeks ago but it isn't reflected in the field yet that RPI is only bringing one team

You can park at the visitor lot at the corner of Waterman and Brook. From J. Walter Wilson, continue down Waterman and take a right on Brook (about 3 blocks). The visitor lot is behind Minden Hall. More information.

I've been keeping track offline and didn't think to update it. The field is now current.

If you're considering playing this tournament in costume, please consider acting your goddamn age. Unless your costume is a Harvard 2009-esque pastiche of quizbowl teams, in which case I will pay you a dollar.

We have 16 teams, which is both a convenient number and the maximum we can accommodate in our available rooms. Accordingly, I'm going to declare the field closed. If anything changes between now and Saturday, please let me know ASAP so that we can track down a house team or an extra team from one of the schools attending. Thanks.

The tournament is underway with 12 teams. Three teams (RPI, Princeton's 2) had to drop unexpectedly, but a 13-team round robin was infeasible due to the existence of only 14 packets in the set (it would make an advantaged final impossible). As such, Ian and I came to the solution this morning that LaGuardia and Brandeis B had to be merged for a 12-team round-robin to occur, though both teams registered separately and intended to play separately as the eligibility rules stipulated. As far as I can surmise, the combined team will not be eligible for entry into the finals and is not eligible to win the tournament.

12 teams played MAGNI Northeast. After a full round-robin, Harvard A was 1 game ahead of Columbia A, so an advantaged final was played. Columbia A won the first game of the advantaged final, but unfortunately had to forfeit the second game in order to catch a bus. Stats are on the tournament database. Thanks to all for coming.

We actually had a final score of 355, not 255, against our B team.

I wish this tournament had run anything close to on time so we could have played the rubber match, but it seemed like a lot of things mostly out of Ian's control, so thanks to Brown for hosting.

Stats have been updated to account for the errors noted both on here and via email. Let me know if there are any other issues. I've also sent invoices to all teams; let me know if they're incorrect or have any questions about payment.

Yeah, sorry about this. A bunch of unfortunate stuff happened; 3 teams dropped overnight due to weather, we started about 30 minutes late because teams and moderators were late arriving, 3 staffers no-showed in the morning, one of our fastest moderators got sick and couldn't really help, and some teams were 20 minutes late coming back from lunch for some reason. Hope the delays didn't detract too much from everyone's experience.

Yeah, sorry we couldn't make it. The forecast became really bad really fast late Friday afternoon and I had to make a judgement call. Hopefully this didn't screw things up too much.
