Ohio State's Winter War Invitational: 1/7/12

Dear Coaches:

I, Jasper Lee, would like to invite you and your teams to a quizbowl tournament to be held at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio on January 7th, 2012, dubbed the “Winter War Invitational.”

Information: We will be using HSAPQ Tournament 22. For those unfamiliar with HSAPQ or the Tossup/Bonus format, samples can be found here (in particular, check out the ones labeled “ACF format”): http://www.hsapq.com/samples

There is a tentative cap of 24 teams, but we should be able to accommodate more if necessary. To allow for time in create a tournament format, however, we ask that you register by Wednesday, January 4th.

The format will be determined based on the final field size, but teams will be grouped into preliminary brackets in the morning before breaking for lunch, after which teams will be re-bracketed based on morning performance for playoffs.

Lunch: High Street, located directly east of campus, has many fast food options including McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Subway, Penn Station, Panda Express, Cane’s, and much more.

Costs & Discounts:

First team: $70
More teams: $50 each
Buzzer discount: -$10 per buzzer, limit equal to number of teams you are bringing
Experienced Moderator discount: -$10
Travel discount: -$5 per hundred miles traveled

Payment: The best way is by check or cash on the morning of the tournament. Checks should be made out to the Ohio State Academic Team. We can work out other forms of payment if necessary.

Registration: To register, simply email me or post here confirming your team's attendance, providing information on the amount of teams, buzzers and moderators.

Currently at 23 teams due to Olmsted Falls dropping out. I hope to be back at 24, however, since I'm waiting to hear back from one school on the wait list.

And for you forum readers Dunbar isn't going; they already heard they set at Danville's tournament.
