ED and (less relevantly) EN/EA/REA decisions are starting to come out for high schoolers, so I figured this thread should exist. Obviously, as before, grad school/transfer results and the like are still relevant here.

As in previous years, this thread should be limited to "I am going to college Y and playing quizbowl there." Bragging about acceptances or asking for advice on which college to attend should go in Off Topic if anywhere.

Our "science player" Pratyusha Gupta was accepted to UPenn today and their Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology. I think she should be interested in playing quizbowl, if she has any free time.

Not from the looks of my last report card...

In all seriousness, though, expect this thread to get a lot more crowded after this week. Most decisions will come out in the next seven days.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but back in my day, I had to decide by what will be Sunday. Are deadlines later or something this year? I seem like I've talked to more people who aren't sure than I'd expect with under a week to go.

The deadline for deposits is May 1st for most colleges. Most schools will let people know on or around April 1st.

A regular B and C Team member of CR, Jalisha Braxton, is going to Princeton as well. She might be interested in playing casually there.

Another B Team member (and occasional A Team replacement), Rachel Grunden, will be headed to Haverford. Again, i think she might be interested in playing there as well.

Unless I acquire some utter disliking for the school when I visit during the weekend of April 14th-16th, I will be attending the University of Denver. Quiz Bowl in Colorado is basically non-existent and DU was one of the last schools I expected to go to, but I may try to start a club if anyone knows of anyone going there who plays and can give me contact info. 40% of the attendees live in Colorado, so I'm relying on the other 60% I guess. I'm pretty sure there was a National History Bee/Bowl event in Colorado, but otherwise I know nothing of quiz bowl or any sort of frowned-upon quizzing practices in the state.

Grand Junction in Colorado has fairly consistently sent teams to HSNCT, I think, so you may not have to entirely start from scratch.

That's true if some of the Grand Junction players come to DU. It also wouldn't look bad on a resume if I helped start up Colorado quiz bowl...I will probably try to do well in terms of grades first, though.

I emailed around this summer trying to start up a small fun open tournament while I was in Boulder for a month. I didn't really have any luck - only got one reply from a pretty hefty list of emails - but I think there is a little promise for something to happen. Best of luck with it all, and if you have any questions, let us know!

CR's captain, Alexa Andaya, has been accepted at and will attend Stanford University. She's been playing quizbowl for 4 years and is pretty good, but might be intimidated by the college quizbowl scene. I've encouraged her to give it a shot though if she can, so i hope she does.

Might be a little off topic, but I'll base any one of you a cookie every day if you play quiz bowl at UCF. And I bake some good cookies, too.

Also, congrats all of you smart Ivy thingy peoples. Also, college quiz bowl really is more fun, and the MSU guys seem nice enough, claim they don't kick puppies, and appear to have a lot of fun pushing buttons and looking smart.

Most likely I'll be going to Vassar and looking to start up a team - hopefully I can find a bunch of other people first.

Also, congrats all of you smart Ivy thingy peoples. Also, college quiz bowl really is more fun, and the MSU guys seem nice enough, claim they don't kick puppies, and appear to have a lot of fun pushing buttons and looking smart.

Now, I don't know where you got that idea. :P
