Reflections on schedule reform

Reflections on schedule reform

Postby theMoMA » Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:38 pm

Let's reflect on our experiences from this discussion last year. I think we did a good job keeping the fall schedule sensible, but we had a harder time with the spring. It seems like the schedule had one spring tournament too many. I think it's still a worthy goal for us to keep the schedule compact and the events high-quality, so I'm interested to hear how others felt that last year's schedule worked compared to those in years past.

Still, last year was much better than I can ever remember, so thanks to all of the teams and writers who tried to work within the schedule. Hopefully we can continue to make progress and collaborate more effectively.

I disagree that the spring semester was full of events--aside from the two Nationals & SCT/Regionals, there were only 4 other sets or so--Penn Bowl, BARGE, MUT & Peaceful Resolution. I think there is the appearance that there were a lot of tournaments because 5 of them were crushed into 8 weeks (01/14-03/03), giving some regions three weekends in a row full of tournaments. Thus, I think spring actually had an optimum amount of tournaments; they just weren't spread out enough.

Next year I'd really like to see a late April/early May regular difficulty tournament take place.
