DRAGOON @ Buffalo (11/16/13)

Post by Tale of Mac Datho's Pachycephalosaur »

Hi everyone!

The University at Buffalo will* host a mirror of DRAGOON on Saturday, 11/16. It'll be somewhere on the Academic Spine, y'all know the drill. I'm aiming for Talbert, like usual, but we may get stuck with Clemens or the Union.

Base fee: $120 per team
Buzzer discount: -$5 per operative buzzer system with at least eight working buzzers
Moderator discount: -$10 per competent moderator
Travel discount: -$10 per 150 miles traveled, one-way, according to Google Maps
Minimum fee per team: $80

Details regarding distribution can be found on the main DRAGOON thread.

* - I've heard rumblings of one/a handful/several/gaggles of Canadian teams going to the Alabama site. If there is not enough interest (i.e., if no school besides Buffalo plans to field a team), we will cancel. Please discuss below.

EDIT: THIS IS HAPPENING

Field:
Dennis/Ottawa
Aayush/Waterloo
Nick Penner/Carleton
Buffalo (1)
Brockport (1)
CMU (1)

I'm coming to Buffalo for this, even if it means I'm soloing the tournament. This may have something to do with getting to go to the Bills-Jets game on the Sunday

As I understand it, Jordan and Jay are going to the Alabama site, possibly with someone from UT. But they'll be better able to clarify this.

Yes, Jay Misuk, Andrew Almas and myself are availing ourselves of the Graduate (lifestyle?) schedule to see some of the U.S. of A. We wish U@B all the best in running the tournament.

As with the Beeby, I am coming down to this, even if it means I have to solo the tournament. This has nothing to do with watching people throw a ball around.

Carleton will send a team to this, even if it means I have to solo the tournament. This has everything to do with my life's goal of thwarting Dennis at every turn.

Is it confirmed that this tournament is going ahead, or is there still a risk of cancellation?

This tournament is definitely happening.

Please show up between 8:15 and 8:45 AM in Room 205 of the Natural Sciences Complex, on our North (Amherst) Campus. We recommend you park in Fronczak Lot, or any of the Cooke or Hochstetter Lots.

Thank you, I did see that, and I changed the field to reflect it.

Looks like we'll run a 6-team double-RR, barring drops from the field. Please be as on time as possible on Saturday!

We've dropped to five teams now, so we may do a four-team RR or a five-team with byes, depending on how many Buffalo people I end up shanghai-ing.

If you think you'll be late on Saturday, please give me a call (seven one six 5 9 eight 5 eight 2 2)

EDIT: And, we're back at 6!

Minor stats correction... all of CMU's points for the second game against Brockport went to Tim. I don't remember what the exact numbers should be, but I know I had some points that round.

Thanks for hosting this, by the way.

As with the rest, thank you for running this smoothly, Buffalo! Always fun to play against schools we don't see very often as well in CMU and Brockport.
