"Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, "Here Comes the Boom" by Nelly, and the "Overture to The Bartered Bride" by Smetana. Oh, and though I feel slightly ashamed in saying it, The Motto always kinda gets me hyped for stuff.

Generally it's just the same music I listen to when I question-write or play Madden on Xbox Live. I have a playlist that more or less is a compilation of the albums III and IV by Led Zep as well as Physical Graffiti, and Rush's Moving Pictures album. Ironically, the most played song on the playlist is either "I Got 5 On It" (along with the three or so remixes I have of the song) by the Luniz, or "Shook Ones, pt 2" by Mobb Deep. I also listen to The Alan Parsons Project sometimes if I'm not piqued by lyrics.

In more sentimental moods I feel, I've found The Downward Spiral has been a great track to listen to before a tournament.

Edit: I made a playlist on the ride up to Solon last weekend, added "Man of the Year" by Schoolboy Q, "Shabba" by A$AP Mob, "OG Bobby Johnson" by QUE and most of the Nothing Was the Same album. Was pretty fresh.

No-shame all-classical pre-tournament playlist:

- Das Rheingold (waking up and breakfast)
- Siegfried
- Shostakovich Symphony No. 5
- Beethoven Symphony No. 7
- Ein Heldenleben
- The Rite of Spring (my god, Stravinsky makes me want to punch someone)
- Mahler Symphony No. 5
- Brahms Symphony No. 3
- Mozart Horn Concerti
- Bach Violin Sonatas and Partitas

I usually throw in some Sublime, The Velvet Underground and The Smiths as well.

Obviously I don't listen to all of it. What usually happens is I go through half an hour of Das Rheingold and follow it with Siegfried until half an hour into the car ride. Then Shosty 5 and Brahms and maybe bits of Beethoven 7 until we're there, depending on the distance. The other large-scale works can be interchanged...

I think I would go crazy if I listened to all of that non-stop.

Prelude to Das Rheingold works quite well as pump-up music actually, something about Eb major I suppose. If anyone wants some other loud/pompous/hype classical music, finale to Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4, Shostokovich Festival Overture, and Mars+Jupiter from The Planets.

Any song by Eminem, to be totally honest. I have this theory that if one listens to fast-rapping rappers, (who essentially mimic or talk at a faster speed than moderators) it gets one's mind to be more receptive to comprehending tossups.
