Hoover Invitational Tournament - (AL) 10/15/16

Post by Joshua Rutsky »

Coaches and Sponsors;

Hoover High School would like to invite you to the 12th Annual Hoover Invitational Tournament, to be held at our school on Saturday, October 15, 2016. This event will, as usual, be split three ways: Novice, JV, and Varsity brackets. Novice teams (teams with minimal experience but with players at any grade level) and JV teams will be playing on the SCOP Novice set; Varsity teams will play on this year's Harvard Fall Invitational set. Play will be using NAQT-style rules - powers, negs, and three-part bonuses that will not bounce back. There will be no worksheet rounds.

Pricing for this year's tournament will be as follows:

$70 for your first team entered
$60 for each additional team
Up to two $5 discounts for a WORKING buzzer set

First-time teams, teams from out-of-state, and teams with financial issues are welcome to e-mail directly to request discounts on these fees.

Lunch will be on site for $5 per player. We hope to have some options for people looking for something other than pizza, but teams will need to stay on campus for lunch to facilitate the tournament running smoothly.

Our most likely format will be pool play in the morning, followed by round-robin playoffs in the afternoon by tiers.

We will have a cap this year on the number of teams we can take for this event. A maximum of 24 varsity teams will be accepted for the tournament, plus no more than 12 JV teams and no more than 8 Novice teams. Should the field fill far enough in advance, we may be able to expand if we can secure more staff, but our first priority is, as always, giving you the very best experience possible.

Please e-mail me with your team reservations. Again, we look forward to seeing you in October!

I am pleased to announce that Hoover will be mirroring the Harvard Fall Tournament as its varsity event this year! We will have a limited number of spaces, so teams interested in securing a spot should contact me or post here as early as possible to let me know.

Hope this tournament went well for everyone!

For those who participated in the Varsity division, please refrain from discussing the set publicly, as many mirrors are still planned. On the other hand, please feel free to join the private forum to discuss the questions and see them in full.

- Go to your User Control Panel.
- Select the Usergroups tab.
- Check the "2016 Harvard Fall Discussion" group and apply for membership, which I need to approve manually. If you don't have a full name associated with your account, I won't approve you.
