Arcadia Quiz Bowl is proud to announce this year’s iteration ACE X which will be held on November 12, 2016. There will be a junior varsity and varsity division reading NAQT IS-A #159 and NAQT IS #158 sets respectively.

DATE AND LOCATION:
ACE X will take place on Saturday, 12 November 2016 at Arcadia High School: 180 Campus Dr. Arcadia, CA 91007. Registration will begin at 8:00 A.M in Room C101 and matches shall begin promptly at 9:00 A.M.

ELIGIBILITY:
The varsity division is open to all high school and students. To qualify for the novice division, the team must have:
-No more than two years of experience.
-Never been to a National Tournament.
-Won no more than three HS tournaments at the JV or Varsity level in a single academic year.
-The novice division is open to middle school teams.

ACE X has received Gold certification from PACE, meaning the top 20% of the field (chosen first from the Regular Division) will qualify for PACE. The top 15% of the field (from the Regular Division) will qualify for HSNCT.

After registration, a confirmation email will be sent out. Tournament fees should be paid at the tournament with either cash or checks (make checks out to Arcadia Quizbowl).

COST:
The registration fee is $80 per team that is established in the SoCal circuit and $70 for subsequent teams. The subsequent team discount carries over between divisions.
$20 per team that is new* to the circuit.

*Schools that have not competed at a pyramidal quiz bowl tournament before the 2015-16 school year; "pyramidal quiz bowl” does not encompass other academic/trivia competitions like Science Bowl or Academic League.

DISCOUNT:
$5 Discount for each working buzzer set.
-$5 for every 50 mi travelled, calculated using Google Maps from your school to Arcadia High School.

FORMAT:
Each round will be played as two untimed halves of 10 tossups each. Official NAQT rules will be used.
The tournament shall use the IS and IS-A sets and shall adhere to official NAQT rules, with the exception that matches shall be run as untimed halves of ten questions each. In addition, ACF rules will be followed regarding timing and tiebreakers. A preliminary round robin in the morning shall be followed by round robin playoffs in the afternoon based on win-loss records. Ties shall be resolved on the basis of points per bonus within brackets, and ties crossing different brackets shall be resolved on the basis of points per game.

The field will cap at 40 teams.

FOOD AND PARKING:
A light breakfast will be provided in the registration room(Room C101).
Within walking distance (15 min), there is a mall with a large food court. Closer options include Chinese fast food and Subway.
Parking will be ample in the lot on El Monte Blvd.

PRIZES:
Prizes will be awarded separately to top individual scorers in the junior varsity and varsity brackets.
