Hello everyone,
I am pleased to announce GEOCACHE (Geographic Challenge Affair with Content Hard and Easy), the successor to 2017’s GEODUCK set. Like GEODUCK, this tournament will consist of 8 to 10 packets with 24 tossups each, and will aim for “regular-plus” difficulty, with a healthy mix of regular-difficulty and non-canon answerlines.
The distribution will be the same as GEODUCK’s:
3 United States
1.5 Other North/Central America/Caribbean
1.5 South America
4 Europe
4 Asia/Middle East
3 Africa
1 Australia/Oceania/Antarctica
3 miscellaneous/common links
1 geography-minded trash
2 other academic
I will be following the same difficulty control scheme from GEODUCK and VCU Open 2015. Questions will be hard-capped at 750 characters (just around 8 lines in 10-pt. Times New Roman). I will also ensure a more even balance between natural and human geography (although a significant number of questions will incorporate clues about the interaction between the two), and make sure not to drop appallingly easy food clues in power this time. ;)
This tournament will be ready for mirrors by July 1, 2019 at the latest, and will once again cost $10 a person. Feel free to contact me on Facebook or at kenjishimizu97[at]gmail[dot]com if you have any questions or want to mirror this set.
