SGI: CLOSED Online Mirror (12/29)

Post by naan/steak-holding toll »

Hey folks,

This is a poll for potential dates for a CLOSED (i.e. single school only) online mirror of SGI. If you are a college team or top high school team, we recommend you play this tournament IF AND ONLY IF only if you have a conflict and/or cannot otherwise make it to a physical site. If you're a high school team looking to try out a tougher tournament in a low-pressure environment, this is a good opportunity for you. If you are such a person and you are an enrolled student, we encourage you to vote in the date poll for this tournament and figure out when you CAN play! And don't get the set spoiled to you, either

This tournament will cost $65 per team, with no overhead and no exceptions. $45 of this will to the mirror fee and $20 will go to paying moderators, so the compensation for each moderator will work out to $40 for the day.

As a note to Southeast players: There is likely to be a forthcoming mirror of this tournament in 2019 at South Carolina; however, we haven't confirmed dates yet. I'll try to get that settled as soon as possible.

This would be on Discord.

To answer a few questions from PMs:

1) If you're playing this as a team, then all members of your team should vote in this poll
2) We'll close the poll in three weeks - this should give us time to confirm whether we'll have a Southeast mirror, let stats filter out so people can assess whether they think the set is the right difficulty for them, and let other folks figure out whether they'll be able to make some of our later mirrors at Stanford and Brown

By popular demand, the date of December 29th has been chosen. Please sign up here if you're interested in playing or staffing - staffers will be compensated $40 for the day.

One would think that the sheet shouldn't have a free agents area since this tournament is closed.

Bumping this - we're still looking for one more staffer, and we'll take a field up to six teams.

WUSTL defeated Delaware in a one-game final after both teams went 9-1 in prelims. Thanks to everyone for playing!

Stats and packets will both be up in a few days.
