SnowCAT at Carleton College (1/19/19, IS-181)

Post by Remembered Guy »

Hello!

I am pleased to announce that Carleton College will be hosting our annual high school tournament, SnowCAT, on Saturday, January 19th, 2019 in scenic Northfield, Minnesota!

Here is the fee structure for our tournament:

Base fee: $90 per team
-$5 for a working quiz bowl buzzer system
-$20 per each moderator provided
-$50 for teams new to quiz bowl (MN Knowledge Bowl does not count — if you have only played Knowledge Bowl before you will still receive this discount)
-$10 for traveling over 100 miles to reach the tournament

If, for whatever reason, you can't pay this, email me at the address below and we can renegotiate a lower fee.

Nationals Qualification: The top 15% of schools will qualify for NAQT's HSNCT, to be held over Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta.
We now have Platinum certification from PACE, meaning the top 25% of the field will qualify for the NSC, to be held June 8-9 near Washington DC.

We are currently instituting a cap of 18 teams, but will likely be able to expand that to at least 24 once we have a better idea of our staffer situation. In addition, there will also be a cap of 4 teams registered per school, with additional teams being placed on a wait list. Again, we anticipate being able to accept more teams.

Teams can register at any point up until January 12th through NAQT's website at this URL: https://www.naqt.com/registration/regis ... &type=TEAM
Payment: We cannot and will not accept money orders, paypal, or credit cards. If you need an invoice, please email me. Checks should be made out to "Carleton Academic Quiz Team".

Lunch: There are many good options along Division St. and Rt. 3, both a short walk from campus.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at koppelbATcarletonDOTedu.

Good luck in your seasons, and we look forward to seeing you in January!

We are down to just 3 spots remaining in the field before we start a waitlist, so get those registrations in soon! We also have received Platinum certification from PACE, meaning the top 25% of the field (5 of 18 or 20, 6 if we get to more than 20) will qualify for NSC in suburban Washington, D.C., the 2nd weekend of June.

This tournament happened with 14 teams. A special shoutout to Carsten, Tora and Joe for coming in and providing outside staffing. Wayzata C won the tournament without a loss, while Wayzata B and EP A tied for 2nd, and should both get HSNCT and NSC invitations, and Wayzata A and EP B tied for 4th, with Wayzata getting the last NSC bid on PPG.
