LOCATION: This tournament will take place at the Charter School of Wilmington, located at 100 N Dupont Road, Wilmington, DE, 19807. Our building has three schools, and this tournament will take place almost entirely on the top floor.
LOGISTICS: We will begin registration at 8:00 AM, with a brief opening meeting around 8:45 AM. Games will begin at 9:00 AM. We will convene for lunch around 11:30 AM. Expect the tournament to finish no later than 5:00 PM.
BRACKETING: We are capable of hosting 48 teams at maximum, and we will have two divisions: Experienced and Novice. We will organize preliminary games in brackets of 6, and then re-bracket for the afternoon, also in brackets of 6. This guarantees that each team plays a minimum of 10 games. At lunch, we will recognize the top scorers from each division, and the top new players, if not already recognized. Assuming an even split of 24 teams per division, the top 30% of the field in the experienced division will qualify for the 2019 NAQT MSNCT.
QUESTION SET AND RULES: This tournament will use an NAQT MS set, specifically MS-30. This is a regular-difficulty middle school set, and we will not be reading computational math tossups or bonuses. We will use 5-second timing, so players have 5 seconds to give their answers on tossups, teams have 5 seconds to give an answer to each bonus part, and the moderator will count to 5 before a tossup goes dead.
FOOD: We will be selling pizzas and other concessions at lunch. If you wish to order pizza, please answer the corresponding question in the registration form. We will do our best to accommodate for dietary restrictions and allergies.
REGISTRATION: Please use this form to register. If you have any updates to your registration, please email [email protected], or [email protected].
