MRNA II @ UC Berkeley (2/25/2023)

The Quiz Bowl Club at UC Berkeley is pleased to announce that the California site of MRNA II will be held at UC Berkeley on Saturday, February 25, 2023. The opening meeting will begin at 8:45 AM PT and gameplay will begin at 9:00 AM PT. Please direct any questions about this site to [email protected].

Tournament and Gameplay Rules
The tournament will take place in-person at UC Berkeley. While we cannot require people to be fully vaccinated, we strongly encourage that all attendees be fully vaccinated. This tournament will follow ACF’s official gameplay rules, which can be found here.

Eligibility
Any closed (consisting of players all enrolled at the same institution) college or high school team can play this tournament.

Registration
Please email [email protected] with the subject line "[Your School] Registration for MRNA II @ Berkeley" with the following information:
1) the number of teams you will be sending (with rosters if possible)
2) the number of buzzers you will be bringing
3) the emails of the staffers you will be providing
4) whether you qualify for the distance, shorthanded, or new school discounts
5) and the total expected cost

Fees
Base Fee: $120 per team

Discounts:
- $5 per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
- $15 per experienced moderator with laptop
- $10 for 200+ miles traveled one-way per school
- $40 for new schools (have not played a college tournament since before September 1, 2022)
- $40 for shorthanded teams (those with 1 or 2 players)

Minimum fee: $50 per team
