TJIAT (Thomas Jefferson Invitational Academic Tournament) 2024

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is pleased to announce the annual Thomas Jefferson Invitational Academic Tournament (TJIAT) on May 4th, 2024.

QUESTION SET:
The tournament will be using CARD, a house-written, regular difficulty high school set. More details can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=27057

TJIAT's current field cap is 30 but this may be increased depending on staffing availability. Please sign up by 5/1/2024. Teams will be limited to at most 6 people so schools planning to bring more than 6 students must register another team. During the rounds, up to 4 students are permitted to play at any given time, and up to 2 students can sub out at halftime. Teams may have fewer than 4 people.

LOGISTICS:
Registration will begin at 8:30 AM, and the opening meeting will start at 9:00 AM. Snacks will be available to purchase all day, and pizza will be available for order in the morning and delivered by lunchtime. The tournament will take place in person at TJHSST (6560 Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22312).

FEES:
Registration fee per team: $90 for first team, $80 for subsequent teams.

DISCOUNTS:
-$5 per each fully functional buzzer set, defined as having at least 8 working buzzers
-$10 if more than 100 miles traveled one way - determined by Google Maps.

Minimum registration fees:
$75 per team

Registration fees can be paid through check. Checks should be made payable to TJHSST Quizbowl with your school’s name and “TJIAT Quizbowl” in the memo line, and 5/4/24 as the date. Please do not mail checks; payment on the day of the tournament is preferable.

Drops should be communicated by May 1st, and later changes may be subject to fees.
