UVa power battle prediction thread
Looks like the team that's dominated in Texas, the team that's dominated in the Southeast, and all of the Virginia powers will be showing up at the University of Virginia's NAQT event, along with several other marquee names from both in and out of state. This should provide a good preview of some of the expected nationals matchups. Anyone who has thoughts on this event, post 'em here.

As for VA powers, there's a group of about 5-6 AA schools (Spotswood, C'ville, R.E. Lee, Poquoson, Blacksburg, Salem) who are up there with any of the non-Old Firm AAA schools.
Heck, even John Handley have shown up at states a few times to displace Lee, C'ville and Spotswood from Region II. But AFAIK, they have not played at any invitationals. I'd *love* to see them at some (*)!
I might include Marion SHS in that group as they are a regular from Region IV and have consitently improved -- from two and out in the early years to third and beating Blacksburg and C'ville last year. It's a damned shame they can't come out and play more and it is the sole reason I don't include them on the same level as the above 6.
Average points scored @ the VHSL states proves this; AAA and AA are about equal, maybe 10-15 points difference but there is a 100+ point difference between AA and A.
(*) I'm a Warren County grad! (Warren County fancies John Handley to be their eternal rivals but I think we will be splitting Warren County into two HS districts who will then become natural eternal rivals.)
