They had a flight to catch. Actually, if I recall correctly, both teams that should have played in the third-place game had a flight to catch and thus would have forfeited, but TJ told me first, so they got stuck with the loss.
The 2018 HSNCT was the first year using the "sessions" scheme and thus with playoffs extending late into Sunday night. I think the top teams have learned to plan flights differently now.
