The second tournament site for the Southwest Virginia Academic Team Alliance (SWATA) in 2023-2024.
The SWATA footprint is limited to the following Virginia counties/independent cities:
Bland County, city of Bristol, Buchanan County, Carroll County, Dickenson County, city of Galax, Giles County, Grayson County, Lee County, city of Norton, Russell County, Scott County, Smyth County, Tazewell County, Washington County, Wise County, Wythe County.
(Schools outside of these counties/independent cities asking to participate in these tournaments will only be considered on a case-by-case basis, and all with interest should be aware that the bias will be towards keeping participation limited to the SWATA footprint; any request for participation from outside the SWATA footprint should expect an answer of “no”.)

Team entry fees per school
- Team 1: $80
- Team 2 and subsequent teams: $70 each
Discounts
- Buzzer discount: -$5 per working buzzer system
- Staffer discount: -$10
Additional entry information
- Minimum fee per team: $50
IF YOUR SCHOOL IS OUTSIDE OF THE 2022-2023 SWATA PARTICIPANT GROUP (that is, if you come from a school other than Burton, Carroll County, Castlewood, Central, Gate City, Honaker, Lebanon, Lee, Richlands, Ridgeview, or Virginia High), then YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO PAY AN ENTRY FEE for ONE EVENT for a maximum of two teams per school. If you can support a fee, we would appreciate the contribution; however, if you have not played a SWATA tournament before, we want your presence more.
