Re: Set Collaboration Thread-2019-2020 Season

Depending on my schedule, I'd be happy to contribute a few questions (preferably math, maybe physics/chemistry) to sets.

Re: Where are you going to college next year? (2019)

I'll be attending Stanford next year--I play to play D2 at least, but anything after that is uncertain.

Re: Best Individuals in Illinois

I also think I'm ranked too high, as Kevin beat me in Solo (going 7-0 in the prelims in the process) and I have never outscored Ethan at any event, so I would have to be at best 3rd. I'm also not the most competent or neg-free generalist (if that's what we're basing these rankings on). I would say t...

Re: 2018 Scobol Solo Discussion

I want to thank Mr. Reinstein for putting so much effort into this year's Scobol Solo set and tournament given his health situation--I am sure it must have been exhausting at times. The set overall was of high quality. The science was very well written, and I really enjoyed playing it. For me, the m...

Re: Illinois 18-19

PRESASON POLL RESULTS: 1. Stevenson A, 112 pts, ranked in 100% of ballots, high rank 1, low rank 4 Returning A-team players Govind and Olivia are arguably the best history and literature players in the state, respectively, so Stevenson still remains the most formidable team. They graduate their sci...

Re: Illinois 18-19

Like Arjun said, I only need the brief explanation at the end to compile everyone's thoughts into a final write-up. I ask that you put your name and affiliation in the poll so I know that the same person didn't vote twice, but I promise to keep the poll anonymous. However, I do plan to release the b...

Re: IHSA 17-18

Congrats to all the teams that played today, especially the really deserving champions Williamsville and Stevenson! All I remember from today is negging "England" with "India" on the first line because I didn't listen to the "before his [Ramanujan's] death" part... ugh ...

Re: Illinois '17-'18

I will note - hearing "zero-one law" and buzzing with Kolmogorov is a significantly different quizbowl experience than hearing "Kolomgorov" + a description of tail probabilities and thinking that "zero and one" might be the answer. Brad is entirely right. (I forgot to ...

Re: Illinois '17-'18

First of all, thank you to everyone (Mr. Fischer, Andrew, Dr. Prince) for writing this set! It was definitely a step up from previous years, and I really enjoyed playing it! I'm looking forward to playing the Sectional packets and hopefully the State ones as well. A couple things I noticed-- Science...

Re: Illinois '16-'17

A lot of the math questions seemed to be written by someone who doesn't really like math. This wouldn't be an issue if IHSA accepted the fact 4/4 math is excessive. How much would you consider not excessive? Probably 1/1, no? https://acf-quizbowl.com/archives/archived-guidelines/2014-15-packet-subm...
