As noted in a chat I'm in, this should be the first time since Columbia at 2017 SCT that a single school has won a single event at multiple sites.

Returning to In-Person Issues

Over the last few weeks, I’ve spent a lot of time communicating with our club advisor and NYU’s governing body on student activities trying to find ways to make in-person quiz bowl events like practices and tournaments happen at NYU this semester while also ensuring COVID safety for all participants...

We are at the point of the trip where I’m accumulating new counties for my mob rule map. The thrill I got from coloring in Butler, Beaver, and Lawrence counties was indescribable. 19 more fresh puppies await me on the rest of this journey. It has been heartwarming to see Connor get so excited about...

After drinking an obscene amount of caffeinated beverages yesterday, I am now operating on two hours of sleep. Sadly I-95 is as traffic-clogged down here as it always is in Jersey. Today promises to be a great day for my mob rule once I finally make one.

Since stats were unavailable right after Round 10, our top 10 scorers were: 1. Michael Borecki of Bowdoin 2 Jason Hong of Brown 3 A...

Joe, I hope I didn't come off as hostile or trying to suppose you wanted to destroy anything non-pyramidal in Jersey. I really appreciate the effort to catalog this stuff, for lack of a better term, especially since it'll be a colossal effort with all the various formats going on. To be honest, it w...

Re: Enlighten me on the North Jersey circuit

This might be tangential to the rest of the thread, but I feel that the reason for the relative strength of non-pyramidal quizbowl in New Jersey is how willing good pyramidal teams are to "get their hands dirty" in other formats. While I was at High Tech, we regularly sent teams to NORJAC ...

I'd like to strongly advocate against using NASAT for this tournament, as I would be barred from playing due to having worked on the set itself (and I know there's a few other writers/editors who worked on NASAT who feel the same- at least two of whom will be traveling pretty far to attend this tou...

To respond to this tangent (and perhaps address some other issues being discussed in this thread), I can personally vouch that, at a minimum, Princeton is well aware of our inconsistent and low-quality tournaments in the past (and is aware of the hiccups at PHSAT this year), and, though I can't spe...

Re: What is the most pressing concern in college quizbowl to

Disorganized college-run high school tournaments are a huge minus for recruitment. I get that we want to keep quizbowl casual, but it usually just looks like a bunch of bro-y buds who don't take QB or other people seriously—not exactly a good look for potentially interested players. This might be a...

I would love being able to have tryouts at Rutgers. What would the different topics for tryouts be and do you have a rough idea of what set they would be run? In any event, I bet High Tech will be well represented on the eventual Team New Jersey.
