Re: Which Online School are you Going to Next Year? (Collegiate 2020)
I'll be starting a two-year master's program at Yale Divinity School in the fall. Not sure how often I'll play, although the events of this semester have made it more likely I'll stay active. In any case, I'll definitely be around to staff tournaments.

I've been unable to edit any of the pages from 1/24/2010 that were lost; when I click "Save Changes," I am sent to the "edit conflict" page that results when two or more people attempt to edit a page at the same time. Does anyone more familiar with the software know any potential...

That being said, my team first (re-)found out about good Quizbowl back in 2013 when we stumbled across the wiki (we were primarily a Chip team before that), and I'm sure this is not an isolated experience. Yeah, I'll echo this—reading through pages on the QBWiki was a significant part of my introdu...

Re: WORKSHOP at New York University (May 2, 2020)
Given the developments of the past week, we've decided the safest course of action is just to officially cancel this tournament for now. That being said, we'll keep the room reservations, and if things have returned to a general state of normalcy by May 2, we'd be happy to organize some relatively r...

Packet 5, tossup 18 ( merger , etc.): The clue "People targeted by this action may be protected with a 'golden parachute'" could quite plausibly be answered with "layoffs," "dismissal," etc. (as happened in the room I was moderating). Perhaps a directed prompt with some...

Re: WORKSHOP at New York University (May 2, 2020)
Probably should put it out there that NJ States @ Rutgers is now also on 5/2, so that might cause conflicts for some teams. This is true. We're going to have some internal discussions and see if we think this tournament is still viable. Room reservations are difficult to come by at NYU, so it's unl...

Strictly from a contractual perspective, Columbia paid for and earned a final, so they were entitled to one, regardless of the nature of the tournament. The correct decision for NYU would have been to award Columbia victory by forfeit. But also from a community perspective, Columbia entered a compe...

Some of the text in the Morales & Bolsonaro tossup from round 6 might need to be adjusted slightly since, as of yesterday, Evo Morales is no longer the leader of Bolivia. The slide guitar tossup seemed to play poorly, from what I heard, although this may be in part because of the failure of at l...
