Re: Alabama 08-09

Reading these posts have made me nostalgic, and thus I will throw in my two cents worth on the state of LAMP. From what my coach told me, LAMP didnt fare too well at the ASCA Fun Tournament this past week. With the attendance of Andrew Conner, the main point-getter who was absent last week, LAMP wil...

My thoughts on Alabama: LAMP will go through serious rebuilding (only two returning from last year) but still will be competitive, ISS and Hoover are championship contenders, and Brindlee Mountain is the team to beat. As for the Hoover tournament: BMHS, Indian Springs, LAMP as top three in Varsity d...

Indeed I am a senior this year and therefore will be leaving for a better place...not saying AL is a bad place. Since I havent said anything as of yet about ASCA state, let me reminisce. First of all I want to congratulate ISS on their win and wish them all the luck at Panasonic. After we barely los...

A fair protest resolution?

During the quarterfinals of this past weekend's CHS invitational tournament, a questionable resolution to a protest was made. At the end of the game, LAMP and Dorman A were tied but Dorman had lodged a protest on one of the bonuses. Before time was up and the answer was prompted for, the captain of ...

Since our district was so small with an eventual 8 teams, there was only one pool.

The regional qualifiers were: LAMP, Northview, Houston Academy.

With all the preseason speculation, I'd like to know how good Bob Jones seems this year.

Although our 6 school district is pretty ridiculous, I think that you also need to consider the locations of each school. Though I am not a master of Alabama geography, I think the districts reflect the concentration of schools in Alabama, with most of them in the north and relatively fewer in the s...

Results from Paul W. Bryant Tournament

1st - LAMP
2nd - Hoover 1
3rd - Indian Springs
4th - Hoover 2

It was overall an enjoyable tournament with a few flaws in repeated questions, obscure worksheets, long 5 point tossups, and short 15 point tossups.

Id like to thank Brindlee Mountain for an extremely enjoyable and well run tournament, although the double elimination brackets were slightly confusing. Congrats to Brindlee Mountain and Indian Springs for their respective placings. From today's tournament I think that the battle for dominance in AL...

A tournament on Jan 12 or 13 would be awesome because LAMP is hosting its tournament on Jan 6. Having it on this date would mean that LAMP could go and possibly other teams who might have issues about 2 tournaments in 2 days.

We did alright at Ezell Harding. Lost to Dorman in round of 16. It was a very well written and well run tournament, Brindlee Mountian should go next year if possible.

I agree with you about the abundance of "1st-tier teams" last year. Hopefully the lack of as many strong teams this year will not mean any less success.

Care to elaborate why you think this year's Alabama teams are weaker.

Personally I think that although we dont have CCA and ASFA as strong as last year, the rising teams of Brindlee Mountain, ISS, Bob Jones, and LAMP more than compensate for them.

I dont know if DOE ever accepted the offer, but it would be so awesome and a blessing if NAQT wrote the questions. Not only do i hate Science Bowl's ambiguous and confusing questions, but having NAQT write the questions might resolve the problem of correct yet "inaccurate" answers like vul...

LAMP, ISS, Grissom, BMHS, Bob Jones

ASCN being "postponed" is really disheartening. Everyone planned the beginning of their summer around the competition and the 5 days in Chicago, so with ASCN gone and NAQT full, we dont know what we will do. The main problem is getting our money back from the airlines and also from ASCN be...

Good luck to all the Alabama teams going to National tournaments.

Anybody know the points scored by the top 6??

Congrats to AFSA on their win and Bob Jones, CCA, and Indian Springs on their placing. I guess we could have done better if it were not for our extreme sluggishness in the morning.

Does anyone know when is the deadline for NAQT state??
