Extracurricular activities

It would be interesting to know what each school's enrollment is, how many extracurricular activities are offered, and if the students are restricted in any way in their participation. Do schools limit the number of extracurricular activities in which a single student can participate? I know one of ...

Congratulations & Good Luck to New Trier

I would like to be the first to congratulate New Trier and wish them good luck at state. I wished I could have been at the sectional today to see all the tough-fought matches.

Tegan, What teams avoid local heavies as you have said? I see it alot in the SICA, the DuPage (formerly...its gotten a little better in later years), and the West Suburban. I'm not trying to paint with a braod brush....there are exceptions: Downers Grove North is not shy about finding tough teams t...

Tegan said: On the other hand, if you got to get some guarranteed local wins against some teams like Niles, Glenbrook, Maine West, among others, your local record looks swell. The only local teams we played this year were Loyola (1-1), New Trier (no comment), Maine West (1-0), Deerfield (0-1, loss a...

Our sectional

Trevkeeper, I'm convinced that anyone who makes it out of our sectional is so exhausted and battled drained, that winning state is unlikely! :>) I thought the questions were less than par. It seemed that some questions were such that a very early anticipation made sense, like the acupuncture questio...

Regionals

Deerfield defeated Maine East in the final question of the match. It looked like both sides were not going to answer, and with a second left, our sophomore on the team rang in with the correct answer. It was one of the closest and most intense matches ever! The conference tournament also ended with ...

the form for All-Sectional

I agree that I saw the form said 2004-05 record. I assumed that the form was used from last year and not corrected. These things happen. In looking at the data from records, I agree with Mr. Egan's compilations, however, just because your record has lots of wins doesn't mean that your team is phenom...

Jeopardy

Yes, Kenny may have advanced if he had not bet such a large sum, but it is nice to see the conviction he showed by trying to win with such a large sum. I am so proud of him getting on the show and the tremendous class he has shown on the team.

I must say that it is nice that Trevkeeper was nominated for All sectional, even if Carlo was not. Trevkeeper is an exceptional layer, and is a scholastic bowl afficionado. He deserved to be nominated. He is a gentleman, and a scholastic bowl proponent. I'm sorry you were not selected for all state.

I have to agree that the Maine South subsectional is one of the hardest. Unfortunately, several of the best teams in the state may not make it out of a regional. Highland Park will also be in the running, especially since they just barely lost to New Trier this year in CSL Conference play. How is Vo...

I grew up in a very small town in northern Illinois, and played on my high school's scholastic bowl team in the mid 1980s. We practiced one time per week, and were quite serious about it. Nonetheless, we would have had our _____es handed to us if we went up against the AA teams mentioned on this dis...

I would like to compliment Maine South on a nice Freshman-Sophomore tournament. I cannot imagine all of the efforts it takes to organize a tournament, and then to have to change all of the pairings at the last minute becuse three teams don't show up and don't bother to call. The "major screwup&...

Trevkeeper,

I think the impression of Deerfield was that it would be nothing without Michael Bilow. While Michael was the best player the Deerfield team has ever known, its current team is definitely strong, as is your team.

I agree that New Trier always has one of the toughest programs in the state, and we have to face them in our conference every year. I am sure that Cliff's departure has left a hole in the math program, but I also know that it won't take long for that hole to be filled. Mr. Reinstein is a quality coa...

Other kickoffs

Did the other kickoff tournaments have all-tournament teams? I'm pretty sure the Wheaton tournament didn't keep individual stats.

Kickoff Tournament Results

We're all the results of the Kickoff Tournaments from around the state what people expected, or were some teams shorthanded?

Overall I thought the questions were good and the students seemed to enjoy the pace of 20 question rounds.

ACE camp

Hi Styxman, Trevkeeper, and others. I was curious about ACE camp, as I've seen it referenced in several posts. Did you attend ACE camp, and what was your impression? How helpful was it to you as a player, and where are the nearest ones to Illinois?

Thanks.

Triad

I agree. Triad questions were great! They were students at the University of Illinois, right? I assume they were former scholastic bowl players.

Maine East

I am pleased to see Maine East with such a strong showing. The team was strong last year, with mostly sophomores filling the varsity seats. Were they particularly strong all around, or mostly just in literature?
