Re: 2019-2020 Illinois Discussion

My S Illinois Top 8 1. Carbondale (Lose Shaunie and Jonah, but John Paul is a force. Giifti, Charles and co. will provide solid support.) 2. Springfield (Aidan Fein is very good, look out for Fr. Jared Dong to contribute as well.) 3. Collinsville (Will be lower if we don't have a science player, if ...

Re: Set Discussion

Overall I feel that this was a pretty good set. However, it felt slightly worse than in previous years. Probably my biggest complaint is inconsistent difficulty on the teamwork questions (Odd questions felt significantly easier than even questions overall.) More specifically, there was a teamwork qu...

obviously your physical location makes things difficult but how many of these players have you actually seen play
I have played against all who were at South Central Solo and John Paul.

This ranking is based on my opinion, which is primarily based on my interpretation of Solo results. In other words, probably not the most precise way of doing this. Feel free to post your own lists.

Best Individuals in Illinois

I haven't seen anybody do this before, so I figured I'd try. DISCLAIMER: I am not trying to offend anybody, I am merely expressing my opinion. I could probably flip several of these names around depending on the question set. Feel free to debate and post your own thoughts. 1. Ethan Strombeck 2. Hans...

Re: Illinois 18-19

Now that the season has started to get into full swing, what are everybody's thoughts on the season so far? I am particularly looking forward to South Central Scobol Solo and was wondering if some of the more distant teams from last year (Uni Lab, Winnebago etc.) were making the trip down to Macoupi...

Re: Illinois 18-19

Out of curiosity, how early is info released for South Central Scobol Solo? I'm vaguely interested in doing it this year (even though I'll probably do terribly  ). I'm assuming Coach Hasquin has some info. Looking to find areas to improve and meet other talented players.

Re: Illinois 18-19

My knowledge of Chicagoland is slim, so I will present my downstate (south of Springfield ) predictions. Southwestern are always solid, but lose Lana and Jacob. They always seem to be competitive though, so we'll see. O'Fallon lose probably the best player in southern Illinois in Mark and don't brin...

Re: Illinois '17-'18

P.S. I answered with just duel on the Cyrano de Bergerac clue and got prompted. Was this not accepted later? I don’t think a prompt is too heinous. First off, nice buzz! That play is awesome, that clue is about a particularly awesome part of it, and I'm glad you got points for it. "duel", "fight", ...

Re: Illinois '17-'18

If we are allowed to talk about specific questions, then I would agree that the "sword fight" one was strange. I believe I answered "brawl" or something to that effect, and was slightly surprised that I wasn't at least prompted. The only other one that I found strange was the question about the Gate...

Re: Illinois '17-'18

My working theory on this year's IHSA set is that regionals were meant to approximate an A set, while sectionals will be like an IS set, and state will be like an SCT set. That's my theory, anyway. I'll be interested to see the data if Mr. Fischer shares what he is collecting from the scoresheets. ...

Re: Illinois '17-'18

All-Sectional is not exactly the best measure of performance. It really depends who votes, who you play, and who you are on a team with. I was only one vote out of All-State consideration partially because I am "competing" against four other players who are also quite good, and as a result, my PPG ...

Re: Illinois '17-'18

1st post... yay

Having played and being thoroughly massacred by Mark in a meet this past Thursday, I can identify him as the best player I've ever gone up against (With the only one being close being Jaden? Lucas from Carbondale).
