Re: No prizes is better than insulting prizes
I've had quite a bit of luck browsing my local Goodwill stores for cheap books to give as prizes; they usually have a few racks of used books for $1 apiece or even less, though you may have to make more than one trip because their selection isn't always the widest. (This also has the added benefit o...

We would like to thank everyone for attending the 2016 MOQBA Fall Championship. Our tournament champion was Washington A, who went a perfect 11-0 on the day and finished two games clear of the remainder of the field and thus won the tournament without needing to play a final. The field has been updated once again. Looking forward to hosting!

Quizbowl on social media
It occurred to me recently that it seems like good quizbowl has a very weak presence on social media. NAQT and PACE have Facebook and Twitter pages, but they have so little information and are updated so infrequently that they aren't nearly as useful as I think they could be. Many of the other quizb...

Yeah, but eventually you'll run out of math to ask. I'm not sure about this, either; I think there are enough valid answers to support at least one question in every round, and probably more. As Fred alludes to, most high school students are exposed to substantial amounts of math, and I, at least, ...

Also, I like to think that science is an applied math. For a whole lot of science, this is untrue! Can't help but be reminded of this. I would support this. I think math is important enough at the high school level that we can easily justify giving math theory at least one question a game, if not even 1/1, and that there are enough accessible topics available to fill this demand.
