Re: TRASH Regionals Discussion

The constant use of Billboard chart clues: who thinks this is interesting or helpful? Oh, Double Fantasy was "Debuting at #11 on the Billboard charts upon its release" and Accelerate "debuted on the Billboard 200 at number two"? I'll just go ahead and buzz on those totally useless clues. The idea b...

Re: Fake Trashionals at Maryland (6/7/09)

Would you believe if I said I had a team for this? Well, actually, I got talked into it (not that I needed a lot of persuading) by some friends, and I've apparently even talked a fourth person into this madness.

3/4 of us are not part of TRASH.

One team (McMaster) dropped without telling us If only one team dropped ,then just put together a scab team. Re: Proposed trash/TRASH guidelines

It's a tricky question for sure, something I think about a lot when I write for TRASH. Submission trash tournaments involve at some level more of a democratic, bottom-up approach to what gets asked and what doesn't. If lots of people write hockey or NASCAR questions, the tournament is going to have ...

However, Kearney's assertion that editing a trash tournament is really hard is somewhat of a canard; it's not somehow harder to edit a trash tournament than it is an academic tournament, because you're not going to know every answer in either case. For whatever reason, I really like the idea of playing trash before it happens, like the idea of having just played trash, and yet rarely actually enjoy the experience itself, but this seemed pretty good.
