Re: University of Kentucky Fall (Lexington, Kentucky. October 21, 2023.)

The cap has been raised to 18. I have added in the first two A teams that contacted me and switched out one team on the waitlsit for in the place of a team that dropped out.

Re: University of Kentucky Fall (Lexington, Kentucky. October 21, 2023.)

The field has now closed. I am willing to expand the field if we receive more staff from participating schools or our own organization.

Feel free to email me if I have made any mistakes or oversights.

Re: Kentucky 2019-20

Here are my thoughts for the 2019-2020 Kentucky Circuit. As a note KAAC (Kentucky Association for Academic Competition) is a Quizbowl-esque organization that runs district, region, and state competitions as well as JV challenge (Freshman and Sophomore). Unlike national formats it is also comprised o...

Re: Can anyone help review my questions?

I am trying to apply to be an NAQT writer so I was hoping someone could help he review some questions I wrote. I wrote these a while ago so I already notice a few problems but I would love to get some feedback from an impartial reader. The tossups are around 400 characters to the difficulty should ...

Re: Making things stick.

It depends what subject area you are looking into. For lit history, current events, and RMP reading rereading, and creating flashcards on programs such as Quizlet as mentioned before is probably the best way. For Fine Arts, listening to a piece of music or looking at artwork in and of its self will ...

Re: Books "for Quizbowl"

Not sure if it's already been mentioned here, but for Greek myth I prefer Gantz's massive tome, "Early Greek Myth," recommended to me by my Greek and Roman Epic professor. It's 737 pages of in-depth descriptions of individual characters, myths, and families, including deviant versions of ...

Re: The State of Good Quizbowl, State-by-State, 2017 Edition

Kentucky : C+ (no change) Quick Recall and the whole Governor's Cup are state institutions; they are not going to go away and do help foster academic teams at most high schools in KY, even in some of the most rural areas. The big question is whether or not Quick Recall can be reformed along pyramid...

Re: Books "for Quizbowl"

Can someone recommend me books on Hinduism/other world religions (Voodoo, Rastafari, Buddhism, Bahai, Jainism, Shinto, Sikhism, etc)? Hinduism: I don't know what your level of experience is but here are two introductory texts. Both secondary sources. https://www.amazon.com/Hinduism-Beliefs-Practice...

You can see a list and a debate about whether or not such a list is a good idea in this thread.

If somebody is interested in learning a lot over a period of time, this is a great read.
Thank you.

Frequent Science topics

Hello.

I was wondering what science topics the forum felt came up the most (would net the most points at a tourney). I am trying to help our new science player.

Thank you in advance.
