Re: 2021 ACF Fall: Global Announcement (October 16)
The least welcoming thing possible is to ban less-experienced players with no appeal. I think this argument is somewhat misleading given that this restriction obviously does not apply to novices. My whole point is that there are novices who are being restricted. Perhaps we disagree on what "no...

Re: 2021 ACF Fall: Global Announcement (October 16)
The trade-off with creating eligibility guidelines is keeping the rules simple while trying to account for all possible scenarios. I'm arguing above that having the PPG guideline neither keeps the rules simple (compared to removing the rule), nor accounts for enough scenarios. ...this guideline, in...

Re: A Modest Proposal Regarding D2 ICT Qualification
Some kind of strength of schedule correction is definitely necessary. It's way easier to score points against a weak field than a strong field. I personally think that the current SOS formula is, in general, extremely fair and does the right amount of correction. However, in this case Washington B's...

Re: 2020 ACF Nationals A-Values
I have a few more things to point out about the A-value calculations. First, it seems like teams with the same record were ranked in Order of Finish by (playoff) PPG. I thought that it was tradition that teams with the same playoff record are officially recorded as having tied for the position (ex. ...

Re: 2020 ACF Nationals A-Values
I ran a few numbers and it seems like a team's strength of schedule was calculated counting opponents' games against the team itself, when the website says that SOS should only be counting opponents' other games. If opponents' games against the team are taken out, it would boost the A-values of stro...

According to the ACF website, this year the calculation for the Strength of Schedule component of A-value uses opponents' points per tossup heard. If this is correct, it's a very welcome adjustment. I'm glad that ACF made this change after last year's discussion!
