Re: 2021 WORKSHOP: Specific Question Discussion
Hey! I enjoyed this set! I wanted to ask if I could see the "epilepsy" and "Eatonville" tossup. Generally, my only complaint was that some of the literature—like these two tossups—were unnecessarily convoluted. I don't understand the philosophy behind tossups like these. Why not ...

Re: Specific Question Discussion
Could I see the "hard problem of consciousness" tossup? I remember hearing it drop philosophy of the mind words early, and was frustrated I didn't buzz. Andy Clark’s so-called meta version of this problem asks whether or not this is a problem at all, while a Francis Kammerer paper asks wh...

Writing Good Poetry Tossups
How do you write a good poetry tossup? This is coming from a lack of experience and a general dislike of poetry tossups that I have tried to write myself. How do you choose significant lines to clue so that you reward people who have read/studied those poems? For more experienced writers, what sort ...

Transgressing the Boundaries: Towards a Transformative Way to Study Quizbowl
Recently, I was made aware that people outside of the highschool quizbowl discord weren't aware of what "Pks" were, and I decided (and was urged to) post on the forums about it. "Pks" are when two players trade bonuses with each other using QuizDB. There's a great video demonstra...

Re: Announcement for CATT 2020-2021 housewrite (HS Regs+/Nats-)
It's great that newer sets are being created, but I earnestly suggest that, if CATT still does not have a head editor and is just starting to be written, this set be merged with another or held off on until next year. Refer to Arthur's post for other reasons why: https://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto...

Everything but Long Fiction
Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well. For the last two months, I have been writing a 20 tossup-only vanity literature packet and would love to read it on the quizbowl Discord server. It is called “Everything But Long Fiction” and the subdistribution is as follows: 5 Poetry 5 Short Fiction 5 Dram...

Re: National Charity QB Tournament
Do you have an idea in mind of what house-write you will use? This sounds like a cool idea, but to the best of my knowledge, most (if not all) house-writes have already been played or are non-existent.

I'm going to UPenn next year! I'm very certain I'll be playing quizbowl, although I'm not sure how serious I'll be about it. If you're on the team, reach out! I would love to meet you.
