Bad things about The Judge:

1. The buzzing motion is completely unnatural.

2. Every buzzer is attached to one another, so if one person accidentally knocks their buzzer or even the extra fifth buzzer on the ground, everything else comes down with it.

LITERACY MOMENT: Islam is a religion Muslim is (a) an adherent of Islam or (b) an adjective that describes things relating to adherents of Islam The fact that this needed to be pointed out on the message boards for people who play a game largely based on cultural literacy earns it my nomination for...

With over 9000 teams participating, between 3000 and 4000 teams should make it to Sunday. It will be interesting to see how NAQT breaks down this playoff conundrum.

Speaking as a player from outside that area, I've found that Maggie Walker, despite not having Maggie Walker teams, runs a very good tournament and has excellent questions. Also, they are close to Extreme Pizza, the best and most hilarious place to eat lunch on a quiz bowl trip.

This morning I got a glimpse of the program being used to keep real time stats for our tournament, and it is really cool. The best part: it compiles individual points per game in real time for every player, which will be displayed throughout the tournament in a separate room. I can't wait, and I won...

Science Bowl is terrible. I had forgotten how not fun the format and the questions are.

The best part of the tournament was the rules meeting before the tournament when the tournament director asked of the audience, "Why doesn't anyone want to come to our tournament?"
