Re: Please Keep Full Stats at Your Tournament
If you don't want to give individual awards due to some misguided notion of sportsmanship (an argument I have heard more than once) I'm sorry to glean this one point from something not really centered around individual awards, but I just felt this was something worth addressing. Is this argument ac...

Re: Please Keep Full Stats at Your Tournament
Reilly's point is why I try to keep a list of mirrors with stats updated, but it does kind of defeat the purpose of a stats database if it isn't complete.

I appreciate Jonah's willingness to have the conversation and for responding so thoroughly. I'm going to largely ignore the following edge cases because I think they're pretty straightforward: - Privacy issues. I'm sympathetic, but this affects everyone, not just tournaments with incomplete stats. E...

Re: Please Keep Full Stats at Your Tournament
The TD doesn't care to put the effort into reporting better stats. They have a system that works for them, and even if creating that from scratch would be harder than learning to do full stats, but they already have the system and they don't already know how to do full stats. The TD would theoretic...

Perhaps, given all of what Jonah has said, we could shift from a posture of "demanding" fuller stats from the unwilling to helping people out past the "choir" figure out and adopt the practices we think are good. I'd be curious to hear someone weigh in who has had success gettin...

Please Keep Full Stats at Your Tournament
Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. Several tournaments in the NAQT database lack any kind of individual stats, points per bonus, power numbers, or anything other than scores for individual games. In the year of our lord 2024, this should be considered entirely unacceptable. This mak...

It is wonderful to finally see John Lawrence win. I met him when he first started playing at Yale, back when the team was not nearly as storied as it is now. It was clear he had a lot of passion for the game and a desire to get better, even when those around him did not. Then I had the pleasure of p...

Disclaimer, not an editor. [*] Packet D: If I remember right, the bonus part asking for "DNA adenine methylase" basically mentioned all of DNA, adenine, and the idea of adding a methyl group before teams' chance to give an answer, which seemed suboptimal to me. I can see why this is subopt...
