Re: Illinois '07-'08

I feel bad for Franklin, but it is CLEARLY stated in all of the documents about roster limits and that names should be listed on the roster.

It's too bad that Franklin lost on a technicality, but a rule is a rule...

Re: Illinois '07-'08

Very proud of our team. We played well against PORTA in what was essentially the championship match. Led at half and were within 1 question most of the 2nd half until they pulled away on the final 4 questions. Nickelback and NASCAR...Sounds like BarringtonJP had the same questions we did...Are all r...

Re: Illinois '07-'08

* Some schools are much more prepared for a meet than others. I find those that are more prepared with scorekeepers, moderators, timers, etc. usually have better teams. Not always, but more often than not. * Barrington: How many matches do you play on the season? * Our area has a scheduling meeting ...

Re: Illinois '07-'08

* I had a thread last spring about being named jr. high scholastic bowl coach at Athens Jr. High. Just wrapped up my first regular season (We're on Spring Break next week). * I must admit, I'm now hooked! Now that I have a season under my belt I can't wait to prepare for future seasons. I now know w...

Questions for Dual and Tri Meets

Tri: I understand the 3rd team provides questions for the other 2 teams.

In a Dual meet, who provides the questions? Home team?

Roster Cuts

What is an acceptable roster size for a jr. high scholastic bowl team? Last year's coach had 18 try out for 7th grade and kept 10. I believe 8th grade also had about the same number of players try out and 10 were kept.

Thanks for all the info. Keep it coming. Our school has just had JH scholastic bowl for 2 years. I know they were in more contests than what is listed on our school's website...but probably not near as many as powerhouses like PORTA I will look into starting a tournament..I'm sure I'll have a billio...

Just named Jr. High Scholastic Bowl Coach!

I was just named Jr. High Scholastic Bowl coach at our Board Meeting this week. I played in high school (16 years ago), but have not been around it since then.

Any tips that one can share with me would be appreciated. I'm excited about getting started, but am really going in pretty clueless.
