Re: 2017 ACF Regionals at Stanford (02/18/17)

I just sent out a logistics email- if your school is playing and did not get one, let me know. Just in case, here are the key details from the email: The tournament will be held in the McCullough building (476 Lomita Drive). Registration will open at 9:30 am- we ask that teams get there by 9:45 so t...

Re: IRC Festivus 2016: Still Not Dead Yet

Nathan Weiser and I have written a packet of ~20 film tossups, the vast majority of which are ill-conceived common links. It's potentially a preview for a future tournament. I'm not 100% sure I'll be around but if I'm available, I'd be happy to read it.

Re: Question-Specific Discussion

I'd like to see the solid-state NMR question (round 3) before saying some words about it. In addition, I'd like to see the tossups on size exclusion chromatography (round 11) and Woodward (round 2). 18. Re: Announcement: Oxford Open North America Online (03/01/20

At the moment we have five teams registered, so if there is anybody who wishes to register at the last minute that would be enormously helpful. Did you get my email/are you counting the team of me + Ben Zhang among these five? If so, we can drop to even out the field if a sixth team doesn't register.

Re: Penn Bowl at Stanford (11/15/14)

After some deliberation, the date's been changed to November 15 as this seems to work best for all parties involved. The first post has been edited accordingly.

Re: Penn Bowl at Stanford (10/26/13)

I'm thinking of registering for this tournament solo. Before I do, I have several questions, whose answers will probably benefit all: 1. What is the size of the field? Is the field still open? 2. How do I pay? 3. What is the location and schedule of the tournament? Thanks. Hey Hidehiro, Field: Stan...

Re: Texas 2010 - 2011

This was played on IS98. Just something to note (and this is evident in the stats), but Seven Lakes and LASA were both using only half of their players for their six prelim rounds. And because Seven Lakes and LASA played each other in the semifinal of a single-elimination playoff, Seven Lakes never ...

Stats for the tournament: http://texasquizbowl.org/d/09Kickoff/Kickoff09Playoffs_standings.html I think there were some stat-keeping errors here and there (at least for LASA A, we had about 4 or 5 powers omitted in various places, and I don't think we really had 30 bonus conversion in our game again...

Reaction to the set was generally positive. It was not without its problems (mainly repeats, some bonus variability, and minor grammar issues), but for the most part, it fulfilled its purpose. Just about every topic was canonical, significant, and accessible. The questions, while intended for low-le...

- Saint John's (TX) lost sometime in the playoffs in the TQBA Houston tournament, so they aren't actually undefeated, but I don't have any decisive data on when they lost or to whom.
The team they lost to was Lyndon Baines Johnson A (a.k.a. LASA A).
