I don't know why others haven't discussed these much at all.

Re: Byko Rankings of HSNCT Field

It is interesting to see how teams have performed over the last several years at HSNCT. However, how teams have performed in the past has no bearing whatsoever on how they will perform this year. No disrespect to Maggie Walker, but does anyone honestly think they will get third this year? Obviously ...

Re: 2008 NAQT HSNCT Announcements

Is it worth it to bring a team of sophomores and juniors to a tournament like this? Definitely. Any experience at the national level they get will be valuable, especially if these will be the kids that play for your "A" team over the next couple of years. I know nothing about Bettendorf H...

Across the Universe was very good... the first time. After having friends blaring the soundtrack continuously, it was close to unbearable the second time I watched it.

Re: Georgia 2007-2008

I have no doubt the draws were uneven. My point is that they never are, it really isn't something up for discussion. As much as I hate to say it, with round-robin preliminaries, it's something you have to deal with.

This happens at most every tournament where the preliminaries are set up with round-robin groups. Swiss Pairing eliminates this.

Re: Lists

I think Charlie is being a little harsh. Lists can be helpful when you need to learn information quickly. However, Henry hit on the main helpful thing with those subjects, history books and maps. Wikipedia is also a very useful resource. But if lists are what you want, Stanford has assembled some pr...

Re: Minnesota/Maryland/Vanderbilt/Cleveland/K-State tournament

What? Both were examples that I came up with. Edited to remove the (possible) mention of an answer. . . was there really even any answer revealed in this post? We don't know whether or not that was an actual bonus answer. If it was then I stand corrected. But it seemed to me that he was making an e...

He made up something, and said he exaggerated how easy they were. And if you had to look up the answer to the question he "gave away" then you are a pathetic quizbowl player.

Re: South Carolina 07-08

Congratulations to Southside High School of Greenville for winning the 2008 NAQT HS State Championship. They were champions of the A/2A division and defeated James Island High School of Charleston (champions of the 3A/4A division). Semifinalists were Irmo High School (runners-up in the 3A/4A divisi...

A live blog would be nice. Has a Dorman-EP (Byko's 1 and 2) match gone down yet?

Re: Update-Viking Invitational, (3-7-08)Spartanburg, SC 29302

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this was the first tournament that Spartanburg has hosted, right? It seems that bouncebacks and powers and negs and everything would just complicate things for the (presumably) inexperienced readers and scorekeepers. There are also no bouncebacks in the regular NAQT form...
