Re: Should quizbowl reform the three-part bonus?
I agree that sometimes the losing team becomes disinterested during the other team's bonus. Also, teams that are overmatched shouldn't be embarassed by a score like 700-0 when they may have some knowledge, but not speed. So here's my suggestion that should not take any more time or require changes t...

I don't know if these were bad judgments calls or bad underlining. - We didn't get any credit for saying "33" instead of "The 33". We were not asked to be more specific. - We didn't get any credit for "Lee" for the victim of the murder in the first season of "Seria...

Re: COTTAGE Bowl - Global Announcement
Since we're an older team, we're disadvantaged when it comes to video games and recent music. We found the Cottage Bowl set to be easier than previous trash tournaments, at least in part because the video game distribution was lower than usual. We added an 18-year-old which also helped. She didn't f...

I will be hosting a science fiction side event after DEES at the University of Maryland on Saturday, November 22. These questions were previously used over Memorial Day Weekend at Balticon. Every year at the Balticon convention over Memorial Day, I hold a science fiction trivia contest in the format of my movie trivia game show Silver Screen Test. You could boardsource the most common mistakes, post them online and refer your novices to them. I think everybody would benefit from that.
If you have the time and energy, you could make and post a video demonstrating the most common mistakes.
