Just want to say thanks to David Madden (and also to my fellow participants) for a goshdarn great tournament and great time.

hey you know if you wait five days it'll be on quizbowlpackets, free to download at your leisure Liar! Scoundrel! (Just kidding; I know other quizbowlers have lives, and I have to respect that.) But if anyone's emailing packets, can they forward a copy to ggjohnso at owu (dot) edu? You will have my...

Creating a Constitution
The way it works here (and at a bunch of other places, I know) is that in order to register as a club, you have to have a constitution. Does anyone have constitutions of their clubs that they'd be willing to share? I remember UC Berkeley had one, but their site seems to be down at the moment. Thanks...

I've actually found the comment right above me to be surprisingly true; heck of a lot more people with academic team experience than I thought there would be here.

Elevator pitch?
I'm trying to get a quizbowl team started here at the small, Central Ohio university I am now a freshman at. However, when I've attempted to promote the idea to others and see if they're interested, I run into an unexpected obstacle: the inability to explain, concisely, what exactly quizbowl is. I s...

Re: Bergen Open Academic Tournament (April 4; Hackensack NJ)
Something we found on the Monday after: In the Latin room, a team left a buzzer with a green "BUZZ IN!" sticker on it. Not a system, a buzzer. If this is anyone's, we would like to give it back as soon as possible. Thank you.

Re: NY/NJ 2008-2009
Bergen A perplexed me. Against Hunter A in the playoff round it seemed that the rest of the team was waiting during the tossups to see if Watson was going to buzz or not. Toward the end of the game, Gabe seemed to get involved. All in all, I am not sure if this was just a bad packet for Watson and ...

I would definitely be in favor of this. As long as it's somewhere accessible by subway and/or NJ Transit bus.

I have already been contacted by Coach Blayne of HHH and his administration said no trips will be allowed. And the advantages of our inept administration become clear. We never had any buses, so parents are driving. We initially had one unwilling to, but that situation is probably rectified. We did...

He's a junior in Med, really good at biology, his specialty is science. The thing with him is that he has the Columbia SHP, and is also doing Model UN, so he'll probably only be able to go to one other tournament this year, in the spring.aarcoh wrote:Wait....who's Jay?

Re: NY/NJ 2008-2009
Having now seen a number of the teams in NY/NJ, I think that it is safe to say that Hunter is the team to beat. Today, at LIFT, Guy was just playing at a different level than everyone else. Do not forget that Hunter B finished in 3rd place with Lily finishing third in scoring. Right now, in my opin...

Pro. But again, there is the whole "my parents don't want me going to some internet stranger's house" to factor in.
Even without their permission, I could probably make it to at least couple of weekend daytime ones (NJ Transit 175 + subway = good).

Newbie fall tournament - North NJ
Would anyone be interested in taking some freshmen (and maybe new sophomores) to a relatively beginner's tournament in North NJ at BCA?
