For what it's worth, we actually finished higher than New Kent at GSAC. They had two playoff brackets and then played cross-overs to determine the final places.

Re: VHSL Results & Opinions

How'd they figure out Blacksburg and Tazewell were the #1 and #2 seeds? Region B, I heard, has not yet been held, and will be a single-elim between now and Friday. Your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps PPG or margin of victory? According to the Facebook group Regions I and II will play on Thursday.

Re: Harvard Fall Tournament at Rockford Auburn HS (IL) 12/12/09

Pardon me here, but I'm surprised. Comparing these stats to the Decemberist stats, it looks like HSAPQ set 9 (or the bonuses, at least) was a good bit tougher than HFT. If someone wants, I can post a comparison, but really, an HSAPQ set shouldn't even be as difficult as HFT. EDIT: I just noticed th...

Group AA continued: I believe that Salem beat Cave Spring earlier this year, they reported being 4-0 and Cave Spring was on their schedule, so they've already got a step up there. That being said, I have yet to see Cave Spring A at full strength. They did seem to struggle some at the Roanoke tournam...

Re: VHSL Results & Opinions

It's fairly early, but things seem to be shaping up nicely. We've run into a few repeats as well. Nothing as egregious as being in the same match, but the matches occurred on back-to-back nights. A couple of these included the same stock clues appearing in both appearances. This is the only real cri...

First and foremost I'd like to thank Maggie Walker for a good tournament and a great time. We really got a feel for where we are as a team. Also, as a member of a non-elite team, I'd like to say that the questions weren't terribly hard. At the very least not enough to be discouraging. Round 11 got a...

Re: VCU Fall Tournament II -- November 7, 2009

These bonus conversions are godawful, from the view point of "successfully writing quiz bowl questions". Harvard Fall was probably exceptionally hard for this particular group of teams. I can't comment on the set because I haven't seen it, but something to this effect isn't too surprising.

A rather big problem I've noticed is that by the time we get to the playoffs in tournaments, the team is usually really tired. I'll concede that usually the teams are better by this point, but we're noticably out of it. In addition to the obvious good night's sleep, any advice?

Also, how is registration for the camp itself done?

Thanks in advance.
