Re: 2024 NAQT CCCT: February 23–24, Chicago

The final two matches between Southern Union and Chipola were one of the best finals I've ever seen. Southern had an incredible comeback down 130 with five or six questions to go in the first match, and then the final final ended with Brayden Hand of Chipola converting the last tossup when his team ...

Re: 2024 Carper Award community discussion

I'll second support for Raj Bhan as a very good Carper candidate from the Veteran's Committee (as it were). Raj played for Broward (Community) College (as it was known in the late 90s) before the CCCT existed, winning two Florida CC state titles, which means his team would very likely have been CCCT...

Re: On Team Splitting at National Qualifiers

This is an interesting discussion. In years when I've had deep rosters at Valencia in the community college circuit, I have frequently split my stronger players to ensure the qualification of a B team (and even a C team once) for the CCCT. I've always felt like this is a prerogative of developing a ...

Re: TV Party Tonight! (Tossups on TV from Beginning to 2000)

I combined early TV (beginning to 1969) for only three tossups per packet as I thought more about it, and also partly based on the idea that now-kinda-old Mike Cheyne (whom, I might add, I once heard opine on 1950s TV on a podcast based on his dissertation research!) might need a teammate who knows ...

TV Party Tonight! (Tossups on TV from Beginning to 2000)

I'm excited to announce an all-tossups tournament of questions on what was on television between 1947 and 2000. I'll definitely have six rounds of 20 but will try to get to seven rounds. I figure I'll charge $10 to play, with proceeds going to Orlando's Zebra Youth Coalition . Thanks to Black Flag f...

1950-2000 TV Set Question

Howdy, all! I've had a brief discussion with Mike Cheyne about writing a set of 7-8 packets on TV from 1950-2000 (expanded his initial range by a decade). As a person who was able to watch more than half of that range live, I think I'm a good candidate to write such a set. My question for us was how...
