Al was the absolute gold standard against which other moderators should be measured. He had the ability to turn the most excruciating 10-line ACF question into an exciting, drama-filled event. Had collegiate quizbowl as we knew it been televised at the time (1990s), he would have made an excellent h...

FWIW (not much, since we're not a bubble team), we went 20-1 in the playoffs on toss-ups, so I have our final numbers at 133-7, 2690 bonus pts, 20.23 PPB.

Bill, thank you for running a quality tournament. Moderators were solid, and it ran largely on schedule -- so good job to you and your crew. Well, it SUCKS greatly to be up 180 at the half and 35 after #19 only to lose by 5, but James, Jason and their teammates deserve a lot of credit for their come...

Timbaland / Pharrell Williams

I enjoyed the questions overall, and I thank TRASH as always. I do have a bone to pick with one toss-up in particular, though. The toss-up to which I am referring mentioned that Timbaland was from Virginia Beach. Timbaland is from Norfolk; however, Pharrell Williams is from Virginia Beach. Pretty ba...

Mid-Atlantic TRASH Regional?

I have to second what Bill wrote here -- are we going to have a Mid-Atlantic TRASH Regional, and if so, where?

Thanks,

Correction

Brad et al,

Thank you for the good tournament. Moderators were solid, and the questions were enjoyable.

One correction though: in Round 1, we beat the CMU team by 100 (300-200).

I enjoyed playing the Richler trash tourney very much. Questions were written solidly, consistently and were fun to play on. Plus the world needs more TUs on Ralph Furley and the Golden Girls :) Favorite two negs of the tournament (from others - mine were boring): Correct Answer: Gordon Carper Award...

I always found it amazing that a list I sent to one person seven years ago has "been around the block" as much as it has. That'll teach me. :P My criteria at the time was that the list was composed of the 100 best players I had "seen play" (as of summer 1998). Looking back, some ...

Patrick, you also may have accidentally skipped over Fred "The Truth" Bush's Rochester A when compiling the list of at-large teams.

I can already tell you that something's wrong here. Virginia simply was a better team than Georgetown. Both were involved in the four-way tie at 5-4, and both lost out. Virginia then went and beat Georgetown in the playoffs. More so, Virginia's bonus conversion was by a large margin the second best ...
