Re: Caesar Rodney Rider Bowl (April 17th, 2010)

Due to the Relay for Life taking place until 6 am that morning, we won't be able to come to this.

Best of luck to you all, and I hope the tournament goes well!

Re: Blue Hen XII (3/20/10) Newark, DE

Unfortunately, I couldn't find enough folks for Saturday, so we won't be competing. I would be happy to help out by moderating though.

Re: Blue Hen XII (3/20/10) Newark, DE

I'm trying to round up four team members for this but it's not looking promising... (Damn musicals!) I'll have a direct answer by Wednesday hopefully.

Re: Blue Hen XII (3/20/10) Newark, DE

This is again the first day of tech week for the school play... I may bring a very underclassman version of our A team, otherwise I would be happy to assist with moderating again. I'll have a firmer commitment as we get slightly closer.

Re: Delaware 09-10

All I will say, in closing, is that my statements should not be taken as someone who is speaking as a tournament director -- I am simply stating how my club feels on the topic and how we would vote in a situation where each club had one vote. I have been nothing but honest when I say that my vote wo...

Re: Delaware 09-10

"If we took a vote your way, you guys would win, so let's not do that" isn't a good enough argument, sorry. Literally the exact same argument could be made against your initial suggestion. You've also ignored my broader point, which is that I believe that each individual club should have ...

Re: Delaware 09-10

If we do a vote, I think having each school have as many votes as they do teams would be the best option, then that way they could turn in their votes on their team rosters. I agree that we should take a vote; however, I would say each school should receive one vote. Under your proposal, it would b...

Re: Delaware 09-10

What about Tatnall, and Caravel? Haven't they gone to things in the past? I forwarded the registration info to Phil Drexler on Tatnall's team, who Ryan (Leonard) and I met at Boys State, but I've received no response from him. As far as timing goes -- last year my team played 8 rounds and we were o...

Re: Delaware 09-10

Peter, regarding lunch: are there places within walking distance? Our bus won't really be usable during the day after we're dropped off, and we might not have any way to get to eat otherwise. ' Absolutely. The best option in my opinion is clearly WaWa, an easy 5 min walk. WaWa is at one end of a se...

Re: Delaware 09-10

Hmm... looks like we'll be around 24 teams for Saturday. I think three rounds might be too few before lunch--maybe four would be more reasonable? Then after lunch the round-robin would be five rounds, total of nine matches for each team? Dr. Greenstone and I are pulling together the logistics on our...

I wouldn't count out AI, they looked pretty good in December. But I think 27-30 teams is good to aim for.

I should have known better than to bring this topic up... Jeff -- thanks for the clarification on that analogy. That certainly clarifies NAQT's stance on mathcomp, and I appreciate the response. I will just say that the inclusion of math questions shouldn't be up to the tournament host... it ...

My advisor is going to talk to our administration about the possibility of having the tourney at Mount; I should have a firmer yes/no before next Friday. Mathcomp... I don't want to start a massive Internet fight, but I feel that we should play with these tossups included. This is the NAQT state cha...

Re: Delaware 09-10

Mount Pleasant A played awesome on an A set but honestly that might be their best performance of the year. For whatever reason, Peter and Co. have played amazing on A sets for years and probably could beat us on a packet more than half the time right now. I think one of our team strengths is a quic...

Re: Delaware Fall Open (12/12/09) Wilmington, DE

Due to All-State band auditions and financial matters it looks like we'll be bringing two teams (one V, one JV) to this event. Sorry if this throws something off, I did not have a chance to meet with the team for a final head count until today.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Re: Delaware 09-10

Rob Niedermayer! I forgot about that, actually. That may have been the most intense match I've ever played, with the possible exception of our victory over Charter at Comcast 07 by the slimmest of margins. And I'm always up for the destruction of weak Delaware teams. I'd like to put up 600 points on...

It looks like the date of this tournament is the day after our school's Relay for Life--after which I wonder if we'll have one functioning brain among us. We remain interested, but I'll have to talk with the team as this date gets closer.

Hey, I do post here occasionally. Thanks for the kind words about our team: I will take "not exactly inept" to be a compliment. Our A team this year looks to be myself (History, Pop culture, Music History, books I've read, Britney Spears), Aaron (Math, literature, random), Dan (Geography),...

Mr. Tressler--I don't think it's going to work this year for us (I think my coach may have already sent an email to you on the topic).

I would be more than willing to help with moderating. Trey [or "ImAPC"] says you may be a few people short?

Re: Harvard Fall Tournament III (11/15/08) -- Cambridge, MA

Not to interrupt the discussion, but I want to thank everyone from Harvard for making the tournament happen. It was a great experience for our team, especially with the higher-difficulty questions then we are used to. The lack of math/trash did knock out one of our best players, but I'm not going to...
