Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
OK, the set's up on Wastebin, so I feel like I should do a brief apology. First of all, I'm well aware that the set had several major problems and a lot of minor ones. Question difficulty varied wildly, both within packets and across the set. Bonuses were especially bad; most bonuses featured either...

The set's been sent to Mike and it ought to be posted on Wastebin in the near future. Sorry about the delay.
We need to dig up some webspace first. They ought to be posted in a day or two.mpellegrini wrote:It's been several days. Can we get stats?

Today's the deadline for packets without special permission from me. Freelance packet writers still have until the 22nd, but please try to get them in as fast as you can.

Sorry, I was away from the internet for most of the day yesterday. Jeff Geringer and I will contribute a packet. I will happily produce one. Excellent, thank you both very much. I'm trying to work out writing one with Guy and/or Ian, will update when information is forthcoming from either of them. U...

Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
Today is the twenty-dollar penalty deadline. Please remember that next Sunday is the final packet deadline unless you get special permission from me. I've updated the field as well. I just sent CWRU's packet to your inbox. I assume this tournament is still happening as planned? It certainly is, than...

DOKTRINE freelance packets
I announced this in the main thread some weeks ago, but we're still looking for two to three freelance packets for DOKTRINE. Freelance packet-writers will be compensated forty dollars per packet. http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=9308#p169320 is the link to the packet distributio...

Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
It's still happening, but it looks like it's being moved to the 24th of April. All the packet deadlines have been adjusted accordingly. Would a moderator mind changing the date in the thread title? We're also now looking for between two and three freelance packets between now and the 22nd of April. ...

Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
Given that our maximum field consists of fewer than six teams, we are considering moving DOKTRINE back to either Sunday, April 18th, which would conflict with ACF Nationals, or Saturday, April 24th, which would conflict with TRASHionals. Would there be greater interest in DOKTRINE if it were on eith...

Major kudos for running this. I had a blast and so did my team. Considering the sheer size of the thing both in terms of question-writing and the field, you all did a fantastic job. There were some question-writing issues and some logistical ones, but overall I really hope you guys keep doing this.

Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
The distribution for this tournament looks great, and Penn is highly interested in sending a team to this. We still need to figure out if we can find a driver, but it looks like there is a pretty good chance we'll be able to come. Tossups should be 6-7 lines in length in 12-point Times New Roman fo...

It looks like the tournament's going to be postponed anyway, but we're also going to have to withdraw due to snow. If the tournament's rescheduled to any date past Sunday we should be able to send both teams.

Re: NAQT Sectionals Region 4 2/6/10 at George Mason
Unfortunately, one of our drivers can't run the risk of being stuck in Virginia until Sunday, so our Div I team is going to have to withdraw. Our Div II team can still go, provided the tournament is on Saturday. No one can make it down there for a Sunday tournament. Sorry if the late notice causes a...

Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
We realize that it's during ICT weekend. Unfortunately, that was the date that conflicted with our organizational and academic schedule the least. I realize that this means that several teams may not be able to attend but we can't run on any other date.

Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
Someone successfully argued that it sounded funnier and was less accurate than "north east" at practice last Thursday and that DOKTRINE as a whole sounded funnier than Ironhead 2k10. Other than that, nothing.Jeremy Gibbs Free Energy wrote:What does this tournament have to do with New England?

Re: DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
Formatting guidelines: Every team must supply a packet. Tossups should be 6-7 lines in length in 10-point Times New Roman font. Any less than that and we won't have enough to work with in final editing, and any more and we'll have too much. The occasional blip in question length is fine, but if half...

DOKTRINE-University of Pittsburgh-4/10
The University of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce DOKTRINE, the Daniel O. Kristman-Krook TRASH Regional Invitational New England. DOKTRINE will be a packet-submission Trash tournament on the 10th of April, 2010. It will be about a twelve-round tournament ideally at about the difficulty level of th...

TRASH in 2010
This is a two-part topic. First, are there any TRASH tournaments planned in 2010 other than the two mentioned on these forums? Due to a number of transportation issues, we missed every single one in Fall 2009, and the consensus on the team seems to be that that is a damn shame. Second, if there aren...

Good call, Bentley. I think we've got all the old Ironhead packets from around 2004-2005 somewhere if you want them. If they're not too old, I'll check it out when I get back to Pittsburgh.

Re: Penn Bowl Trash Mirror at U of M Ann Arbor (1/18/09)
Pitt will be there. I'll know for sure how many teams we'll be bringing after practice tonight, but I think we've got somewhere in the neighborhood of three to four teams' worth of people interested. We can bring one buzzer set, I'll ask about moderators tonight, and I'm pretty sure we get the trave...
